With all this G1 homage

Recommended Posts

I remember it was said way back that originally Armada was supposed to be a sequel to G1 (basically season 4 on), however, Hasbro shot the idea down because they didn't want a new series to branch off from another series 20 odd years old. They didn't want the new series to be bogged down by G1 (which was probably a good idea).

I think Hasbro is doing the homages because there are a number of people who would prefer G1 redone, but since that really isn't feasible, homages are done as a compromise. Remember, most of the kids and to a degree parents buying TFs have no real familiarity with the figures, so this is all new to them.

G1 had great concepts and character designs, and it would be foolish not to reuse them for a new Generation of fans to enjoy.

They dont do it because whats the point of remaking something that is already their? its called originality people. G1 will never be remade.

Originality, huh? Like names like, oh say, Optimus Prime, Megatron, Unicron, those are totally original. :tftongue

Im talking about the story dude, id understand if they made a show out of WWI but not if they where to redo G1 completley it would be a waste of time and money and thats why they dont do it.

I think Hasbro and Takara probably desparately want to evolve and move on. As you probably have noticed, fans go crazy if you turn your back on their favorite products and characters. Face it someone is always complaining or desiring certain products.

They wanted to get rid of Optimus Prime. Luckily they listened to the fan outcry. To me it seems like with every line they try to venture out but they have to, no matter what, have a red with blue truck that turns into a blue helmeted, silver ninja mouth/nose gaurd equiped robot. They even tried to change the silver ninja mouth/nose gaurd but they had to change that.

Its the same with DBZ when they killed off Goku and where going to make Gohan the main character. I hate how fans have so much control over thigns by their complaining, I think companies should ignore them and just let their stories go how they want them to go originally. I personally love it when main characters die and hate it when they are brought back to life.

Akira Toriyama chose this, not fan pressure, as the manga came out way before the anime (you do are talking about the final battle against Cell, right?)

In essence they are already with Armada and Energon. The rhetoric from Hasbro is they're retelling the G1 story with the new shows. I haven't really seen the shows, but I like the homages like Energon Scorponok, Slugslinger, Arcee, Rodimus etc.

As far as I'm concerned they are the same G1 character in a repaired and remodeled body. (Due to damage or whatever.)

did anyone else think that energon Hotshot was going to be transformed in to Rodimus? I always thought Hotshot was a Hotrod/Cheetor remake and when I saw pics and read Rodimus' bio I just knew he was going to be Rodimus.
