When we were young

While it is cool to have loads of articulation, I fear that what you speak is truth. It was cool just having the bricks.(example, G1 jetfire is my favorite TF to this day)

im 23 and i still have major battles with my tfs usualy dbz style with my own special finishing moves for the bots and cons!! hey i dont care these are toys to be played with that is why i hate this Mint In Box crap my god the poor things trapped in one mode never facing the horrors of war!! when i play with them it serves 2 purposes i have a coordination problem called DISPRAXIA and these cool robots help me improve my fingers dexterity (not that touch-typing since six years old doesnt help) also i have an IQ of 160 so my poor brain is never off 3.5-4 hours of sleep a night if im lucky! so these help me switch off

seeing as micro machine and micro masters were the same size i used the micro machine battle stuff and the big ass van city as citys for them to fight in and drag race on those launcher things

ah the good old days in the sand pile digging tunnels and boring out bases for the transformers to launch attacks from and the firecracker land mines that they had to avoid (sorry prowl that leg will never be reattched)at least to some degree the battle still rages in my basement on a pair of tables with warhammer support troops and a city built out of o scale model railroad buildings

I used to make up battles with the few toys I had, had maybe one or two TF's before I was a teen and I used to make a battle where Powermaster's Prime was a starship of some sort and my Mask Rhino was trying to shoot it down, would also do Jayce and The Wheeled Warriors adventures. Now I don't play with them too much, but I've got lots of ideas and maybe when I'm able to relax one day, I'll play and make up all kinds of new adventures.

That's classic guys. anyone shoot their toys with pellet guns or .22's. We had the Cobra hydrofoil and loaded it full of Joe's and TF, sailed them out on the river and ambushed the poor suckers. It took over a half hour and to many rounds of ammo to sink that thing, maybe they made em tougher back then. The only survivor was Snake Eyes. Unfortunatly he had a perfect hole in the middle of his chest, still in one piece, unbelievable. All he needed was new lungs, spine, kidneys, large and small intestine, stomach, and pancreas. Other than that he'd be fine the doc said but finding a new suit would be tough. Seems like a waste now when I think back but the memory remains.

I read alot of people dissing some toys because they were bricks. I'm just interested in how any of you did battle with them. Poseability is only an issue for display purposes in my opinion. I grew up with G1 and they are clearly limited in the pose department but it was never an issue.

I feel the same way to this day about articulation I think it is nice, but not a necessity. I well designed toys with good colors regardless if they possess poor articulation, but that is my preference. I also agree that for displaying articulationi s nice to have but hardly a necessity.

Some of the best toys I ever had were of popular characters like Optimus Prime, Galvatron, Metroplex, Fortress Maximus, Jetfire, etc and most of these are widely viewed as bricks and boring toys.

TFs like any toy is all about the imagination of the user and truth be told, I know I did not matter when I got the articulated ones anymore than the old bricks. My appreciation of the TFs as a whole was all created by my imagination and the toys were merely an outlet for me to act out those fantasy battles.

When I was a kid, GI Joes were a foot tall and had "kung-fu grip"; therefore, I never got to play with Transformers. sniff...

Mine usually were transformed a couple of times than placed on a shelf. On the bright side, I have a whole bunch of completely mint G1 Transformers.

(edited to correct horrible grammar)

Do kids these days even have to use their imaginations to play with toys? Do kids even play with toys? Or are they just collectibles?>>>

I bet the KIDS play with theirs. I see my sensei's 3-year-old all the time. He had an Energon Rodimus recently. Well, half of one.

I tended to bang them together when they battled. In those cases brick types are quite good, don't fall in dozens of pieces then. Though as I didn't have many I made them of lego and those kept on falling appart. LOL
