I agree, and it worked on me atleast. This seems to be going in a more interesting direction than anything else we've had since Beast Machines.

I liked the fact that we didn't see any robots. They've been stressing how they intend to play off the whole "Robots in Disguise" aspect, so it makes sense that they wouldn't fully reveal themselves just yet.

Well, picked up the issue and i have to say im actually liking it. sort of. In the inside cover theres a listing with darkened heads of bots that ae gonna appear later. although only 5 were actually in it, im liking the designs. I absolutly hate the character names and I dont know where they pulled those out from but the creativity lacked there severly. It was abitslow and I realize it is just a preview issue. The four covers did their duty tp show off later covers and decidedly picked the one that resembled the marvel editions of the 80s, although they should have used those designs....

I really liked this teaser to. Felt it was directed at the fans and I know it really got me looking forward to seeing more :thumb Art was also better than I was hopping for :thumb

I just found mine at the local comics store. For 99 cents a piece I went for all four cover varients for the sheer heck of it. My favorite cover out of all four would be the Optimus flattening Magatron pic. I also like the one with the 80s Marvel feel. The other two are meh.

 

Though I read it I'm not too sure what to think just yet. The artwork/design looks pretty good overall and the colouring IMO is definitely up with Dreamwave standards. As for the story it's no surprise to me that it's given the human POV but what I really think works well is that though few know of the Transformers being on earth the ones who do see there existance as an Xfiles esque myth/conspiracy. I also like the fact that the Autobot's/Decepticons actually utilize there alt modes remaining hidden opposed to bing out in the open gigantic robots. Obviously there's a lot happening in terms of plot and it'll be really interesting to see where it all goes come January.

 

My only complaint though minor and immediate request is that IDW no longer rip off cheesy dialogue as everyone these days seem to do with James Cameron, and Bruckhiemer movies. It's obvious and lame, fresh non cleched dialogue would be great place to improve on an otherwise decent refurbishing of the TF comics line. :thumb

My store got in one of the Shockwave wrap-around covers. We marked it down to $60 (it's been selling for as much as $85 elsewhere), and it sold in one day!

 

 

Now, I agree with most of what was said here. Definitely just a warm up. A nice teaser. I'd also like to see the dialogue get a little less "predictable" anc cliched, but when it comes to the cheesy names I don't mind so much, as long as it doesn't lead them to be charaicatures instead of characters.

 

Now for some speculation...

 

I think we've all guessed on the identities of the blackened out Bots and Cons...

In that panel of what we can only assume is the Con base

(Oregon, right before the Panel of SS saying "Find iiiiiit!") did it look more like Soundwave's chest among a bot being assmebled, or a random Con viewscreen being suspended above all kinds of mech stuff?
