I loves me some Gundam, but I think EJ went overboard with the influence. To a point where it's turning me off. The DON quality tech greebles and details are there. The Alternators influence is there. But Alts did all that without being decidedly Gundam. I guess it's too late to rework the legs. :(

What the heck is the aversion to incorporating the alt mode into the robot? They look like shelled Gundams now.

I love the art (well ...except for the gundam thing)

and that is totally an alternator/binaltech reproduction.

Look at alt sunstreaker there at the back left.

Looks like they are trying to break away from the Dreamwave era (and Marvel) of transformers...redesign the transformers.

However, the idea is not unique...dreamwave said (Brad Mick and Adam Pytak) that they were going to incorporate Alternators in the comics..or make an independent alternator series.

I can't wait to my hands on these comics! ..these pictures have given my hope that IDW may infact do something good with it.

I loved dreamwaves comics....therefore IDW has some work to do :)

As long as the characters are somewhat recognizable, I'm fine with less kibble, and some new imagination.

i can see the complaints on the legs... I also think that the kibble "shell formers" is less interesting than actually having Car parts as body - but i do like the over all design of these guys -

i mean they look like machines (not men in suits) and yet are still expressive!

Yay!

Hunter

They're...OK

Personally, I feel that EJ Su's art quality tends to shift between "not half-bad" and "quite amateurish". No offense to anyone who likes his stuff, but I think there's far more talented artists out there in the comics bizz. I don't really like Gundam designs much, myself, so I guess what I feel about the TF designs for this comic is...apathy, mostly.

Shellformers=TEHBIGPowerglideINGNOES

everything else is fine, but that shellformer stuff is ugly as hell, man.

Edit: GUndam ripoff=teh noes.

the only acceptable shellformers in the comic to me would be toys that were shellformers in the first place, IMO.

Edit2: Normally i'm not a nitpicky bastard when it comes to how transformers look in various media, but this stuff is rediculous. Ironhide looks like an idiot, Prowl's legs are fuxx0red, etc.'

Edit3: and WTF is up with their legs being longer than their torsos by so much?

Maybe it'll look better when it's colored?  I'm more concerned about the story being good than the art being masterpieces.

I think the angle/perspective is making the legs look longer than they actually are
