How Much will the Movie Make?

Opening day: Rough guesstimate would be in the 50-75 million mark. (I've been wrong before though.)

Opening weekend: Again, rough guesstimate would be a little over the 100 million mark.

First week: I'd say it could easily clear 120.

Worldwide: Are we talking same time frame as above, or in general? If we're talking in general, I'd say it could easily do 300.

DVD: All dependent on how the film does in the boxoffice. Sure, we fans will help with a nice chuck of the profit here, and then sci-fi and Bay fans, but if the movie tanks, then beyond us...it won't do much except collect dust.

I'm not sure how it will do, but I think there's no gray area here. It's one of those things that you either love or hate it.

It could do insanely well and truly be the next Jurassic Park, or it could bomb and be laughed out of the theaters.

One thing we must remember though...Bay alone is bankable. His combined movie receipts go past a billion.

I think its going to make a ton of filthy cash.

Let it clean house, and punch Harry Potter in the balls

Five miiiilion dollah!

hmmm, judging by the reaction from normal folk (not us fan boy nerds) this movie is going to decimate. i don't think it'll beat potter, but i think it's going to give it a good run when all's said and done.

(Speaking as a Potter fanboy) I am of the opinion that the HP movie will not be as enormously huge as it could be. The final book is coming out at almost exactly the same time, and I guarantee that for 100% of the HP fandom the book trumps ALL else. Plus, there is Transformers and all the other summer movies that have already come out. I think "too much all at once" will keep ticket sales from being OMG HUGE, at least at first. I could be wrong though. That's just my sense about it.

I would totally agree with you except that the HP movie that's coming out is based on one of the best books (according to the people around me that read them. I don't). They're all salivating at the idea of seeing that movie's story brought to life AND buying the last book. I think they'll do both. HP will make bajillions. TF will too, but I'm not sure it will be as many bajillions as HP does.

Yeah, I could be talking out of my ass. But what really makes a blockbuster is repeat business, and I can totally see people going back to see Transformers more than once. I think that the HP book (which comes out a week after the movie) is going to suck up all of the attention because it's like The End and stuff.

I dunno. People continually surprise me so I might be wrong. I do know that there are a lot of HP fans though.

Probably a lot more of them than TF fans to be honest.

True, but I think the TF movie will be more accessible to a general audience than Harry Potter 5.

To the male half anyway. I'm not sure how many women are interested in robots fighting.

I'm not sure how many men are interested in teenage wizards. :tflaugh
