I wanted better leg articulation, so I sawed off the little stumps just above the backs of his knees. They do nothing in either mode (as far as I could tell, anyway), and their removal allows 2 or 3 extra clicks of his knee joint. Try it, 's cool.

 

EDIT- forgot to point out that, yes, the leg kibble does get in the way a little bit, but you just pop it loose from the back of his thigh and it swings out of the way.

 

I also have an idea to make his wrists rotate, but the way I wanted it to do it won't work, or else it will make his wrist twist in an unnatural way. Still working up the guts to saw one of his hands off, tho!

My question is, do the little tabs do anything at all. Any function whatsoever. If there is absolutely no reason for them being there other than for the sake of just adding some detail, then I may cut them off as well to achieve this....

 

Then again, I don't like to mess with my figures in that manner too much unless I absolutely feel it'd be for the better.

maybe the tabs are part of a super mode that will be revealed in Transformers 2 or 3. Maybe it will be a transforming trailer supermode. That would be great.

In vehicle mode, those tabs end up under the front end, facing downward. Doesn't seem like any purpose to me at all, that's why I chopped them off. Makes you wonder why they're there at all, a waste of plastic.

 

Doing so helps to put him into that famous defense pose against Bonecrusher's assault in that highway battle scene. Now if I only had a Bonecrusher in scale w/ Leader OP...

Nope, my Prime cannot do that. Nor do I care.
