Quality Issues (Again)

Recommended Posts

As if it is any surprise, both of the Voyagers I picked up (Blackout and Ironhide) are cool figures that have very poor quality inspections.

Ironhide's torso does not snap together where the two pegs are supposed to join the upper and lower body. I can not even see how it would be possible to slight that blue joint over the two black pegs, there isn't enough physical room there and I don't think I should force it (I pushed pretty hard before).

Blackout... where do I start? The backpack and everything is just a mess. He feels like he is going to fall apart in my hands. I took the backpack off because it is just so nasty.

However, I can't seem to get his shoulders/upper body to stay in place. Is there a way to lock this?

To make matters worse, the instructions for his automorph sucked. While in helicopter mode I popped the thing down a bit because it wasn't aligned at all. Turns out I may have completely messed up my automorph. What were they thinking?

Well if I can get the torso on Ironhide to fit togehter, and get Blackout's massive shoulders to stay in place, I may be a tad bit happier.

I'm not buying anymore movie TFs until these two are resolved. Nice going (again) Hasbro...

if you look on the torso of blackout you'll notice two little slats, now inspect the shoulders and you should see two slots, the slats lock into the slots quite well, so much so that you need to be careful when tfing him back into heli mode, i almost sheered one of mine off because i forgot about it.

as for ironhide's waist, it'll fit, it's just really tight, and it sits at an angle and not entirely flat.

Thanks, I figured them both out with your help. However, I'm still really upset that the Ironhide pegs don't even go in the holes, they just sort of sit there (makes him floppy).

Also a little pissed that you can't really manage to have Blackout hold his gun without falling over, or have his backpack on without standing up pretty crappy.

tell ya what i like to do with blackout, you'll notice that his backpack is kinda floppy so i use it as a leaning pose to pull off some pretty sick poses, i also don't like the way his top roter blades stick out so far so i took them off and noticed that he can hold them, esp with some practice. i couldn't stand the giant whirly blade of death anyway he can't hold it very tight at all, they should made it movie accurate so that he holds the tail rotor.

as for ironhide, yea mine comes undone when i try to move his left shoulder (it's super tight).

Also, lol at how Ironhide dwarfs Blackout. Movie accurate...

I wonder if anyone at Hasbro has seen anything but the trailers?

Ya know....it's not just Hasbro at fault for these designs. It's Takara as well. I'm so sick and tired of people complaining about Hasbro and how they could do a better job, yada yada.

Well, granted, on some figures they could do better.

On the whole, however...if it wasn't for them, we wouldn't have TFs.

...people forget that. Always.

Much as I love "in scale" toys, I wonder if any fan who complains about a lack of scale has seen any Transformers line other than the Alts. :tftongue

I agree Hobbestimus. Throw scale out the window and just have fun with them. Though to be fair, they did a good job with the Autobots being in scale with one another and each of them (Prime-Leader, Ratchet/Ironhide-Voyager and Jazz/Bumblebee-Deluxes) are nicely done.

The Decepticons, a majority of them leave much to be desired. The only one I truly like at the moment is Blackout. Bonecrusher and Barricade are really limited in poses. Brawl is somewhere in between. And Scorponok. Well, Scorpy. What can I say other than that he's got to have been estimated to be the lowest selling point of the entire line. But his link up option with Blackout is nice. Now all I need is Starscream since I'm expecting Megatron in the mail hopefully by the end of the week.
