Is Powerlinking worth it?

Recommended Posts

Just combine Inferno has the shirt, and Rodimus as the pants and you have one awsome figure.

But I think that the powerlink feature is a great idea, there are alot of worse gimics out there that they could have done.

yeah im just thankful they dont have little water guns or something.

I remember those days...thankfully they seem to be behind us. :redface

transformers in general have been built on the gimmick of transformation. so it makes sense...adding more gimmicks will hopefully add more interest. well i'd say it works judging by what i see all over the web of people discussing transformers!

in armada it would have been a nice gimmick if they had several minicon teams who could merge into a larger bot, one on scale or larger than the basic assortment of armada figs. maybe even in g1 manner, that would have been sweet!

if they wanted to do a good recolor of unicron they should have made a clear green one to represent the mirror unicron that the minicons formed in the cartoon. imagine how cool that would look on your shelf! two unicrons locked in battle...just like the cartoon.

a little more thought would go a long way!

all in all, i only ask one thing...that the toy figures have a good resemblence to the cartoon figure. on that i'd say they've done an amazing job. good articulation or bad...they still look cool on the shelf!!!

you dont have to imagine any more. :thumb

I agree with Madman1366, the toys actually look the part of the characters on the series. Which is a huge improvement over G1 and Beast Machines. For every gimmic that is added something will be lost, in Armada we saw the minicon ports adding to the transformation, but we lost some articulation due to sound boxs and the gimmic. Energon has a great gimmic and huge play value, plus with each new Wave you get even more combination ability.

well if anything can come of all of the power linking i think it would be cool if they did a new version of wreckgar eh i can't spell anyways that could be a cool way to put some more movie characters into the energon series since it seems like this is what they are using energon for a reason to get old characters a second chance :tfhuh

I have to say that I like the powerlinxing. Its a good idea that had to be fairly complicated to pull off. I understand that some of the figures dont look that good hooked up but you dont have to powerlinx if you dont want to. I think its a great play feature and is a good marketing idea to bring in kids as new fans and collectors, after all if you get one and he hooks up with another that you dont have, you go beg Mom and Dad to get the other one and so on. Its the same thing the did with the gestalts, indevidualy the toys were all kind of boxy so they would fit together right as arms, legs, and torso. At least now each figure is shaped uniquly and can stand alone if need be.

It's a good idea that's HORRIBLY executed. They just look plain awful! Bad proportions, bad color schemes.......so ugly they're ughly!

I 100% totally agree with you dude….all the autobots have such different color schemes that powerlinking together just looks wrong.

So far the only powerlinking that looks ok is putting the same robot together with him self…..and even then most of the times the arms look wrong. :redface

Prowl with Prowl looks good. Have you seen Remy's pictures of him?
