Is Powerlinking worth it?

Powerlinking is fun. Think of it from a play standpoint: If you have 3 or 4 robots that can PL, that's a ton of different combinations. Kids could invent different powers and personalities for each combination, and that sort of thing. So from a toy standpoint, it's a great idea. And some of those combinations look pretty nice (Inferno as the shirt on anyone, pretty much)

as for toys being affected, Hot Shot and Inferno are both awesome toys who aren't hurt by the gimmick. Rodimus, on the other hand...

Even when you combine the different robots it’s hard for me to see them as anything other than what they originally were. For example If hotshot and inferno combine and hotshot is the head and torso “shirt” then all I see is hotshot got new legs…I can’t see a new personalities coming out of that. It’s not like back in the days when the constructicons came together and formed devastator, now that was a new robot…his his own personality.

To me powerlinking just means, you have one less robot to play with. :tdown

I meant like, "oh, I'll use Inferno as the shirt if I want more firepower, or I'll use Hotshot as the shirt if I want to club baby seals". It's a good idea if not a poorly executed one.

I find it depends, I know people have mentied the G1 style combinations which is something I would like to see more of. Energon has some pretty good powerlinks like I just got the Rodimus and Prowl and I quite enjoy thids feature on them. So ya it really depends and it really is a case by case basis but I know like a lot of you I would definatly like to see some getisults

Ok, here's my piece on this, i haven't had a chance to actually mess around with my energon figures because i'm overseas :tfsad , but from what i've seen, the power linking gives them more posability than the g1 gestalts. Plus, with the exception of the constructicons and the predacons, you have 1 big figure, and a bunch of little figures that basically form a brick. Now if they did like they did with RID (railracer, omega prime, landfill) you have a gestalt with great posability and a nice balance of gimmicks.

overall, i like what i see with energon, i think it's a step back in the right direction, so i'm not going to knock it.
