I started futzing around in 3DS Max, originally intending to make a variant on War Within Soundwave (as he appeared in the concept sketches). However, as I went along, I ended up designing something more than a bit different (though with a VAGUELY similar transform scheme).

The original intent was to simply make a unique character but the end result puts me in mind of War Within Warpath, or something similar. And, yes, in tank mode the turret can spin freely.

Tank mode:

And Bot mode:

I am mapping it over the next couple of days, then rigging and texturing it. Should be done by the end of the weekend. :D

If you add a barrel to the chest, then you would have a more accurrate Warpath. But currently he still has a stong Soundwave vibe to him.

Quick little animation of it transforming to and from tank mode:

And I'm considering a removeable barrel on the chest, yes.

Reminds me of Tankor really.

without a turret, i do see tankor, but with the addition of a turret, you've definitely got yourself a warwithin warpath BAM :tfgrin

i apologize for that...i just couldn't help myself :roll

The first impression I got was of Tankor, honestly, but it's still well done.

Umm, it's NOT QT. It's AVI, so right-click / save as, and play it with whatever player you want. :D

Update on the textures:

And yes, I'm making a Warpath version. I just have to finish texturing the cannon. :D

Imple yet effective transformation, It still has a big Tankor vibe to me, very cool overall.

And the War Within Warpath version:
