Fox to release Beast Machines DVD

Recommended Posts

I notice that Fox is going to release a Beast machines on DVD. I hope they put all 26 episdes on 3 DVDs.

I thought Paramount got the rights to do TF DVDs and videos. I know Rhino doesn't anymore, thank God.

Paramount only have the rights to Energon, which is out in October.

I like the FBI guy with the beird glasses and funny muschash.

Do we really need this abomination on DVD?  The cool and intriguing idea of sentient alien robots was dashed by this series, which turned the TF into just plain old, organic-based aliens that we've seen many times before.

:puke

:krem finally! Someone else who thinks Beast Machines was lame. :krem

All real TransFans shouldn't like Beast Machines. Not only did it completely destroy the whole concept of Transformers as sentient robots, it also ruined the interesting characters and story of Beast Wars.

not to mention it chucked the G1 and BW stories and timelines out the window.

Just because someone likes BM does not mean they are not a real fan. I enjoyed BM, and consider myself a fan of Transformers, from G1 to Energon. Also, how did BM ruin Transformers being 'sentient' robots?

BM added to the G1 and BW timeline. Both BW and BM added to both the G1 cartoon and comic continuities. Everyone has their own opinions on the series, but you should get the facts right before putting something down.

I totally agree everyone should be entitled to their opinions. Just because you like BM doesn't make you a true fan, but from a TF standpoint, the story just blew. It would have been something different if this would have been a completely diffrerent Universe, or if was even EXPLAINED, but it was all too convenient. If this was a stand alone series, it might have worked. As a matter of fact, as a completely stand alone series, it works. An evil tyrant enslaves a whole Planet and there a choosen few to change that. It just doesn't work in the TF universe. I have a sneaking suspicion it was supposed to be and Skir just just slap the TF label on it. Idiot.

Way too convenient. It's kind of like saying that somehow, The Emperor completely wiped out the ENTIRE Rebel Alliance, all the planets in the Republic/Empire, for or against him, and there was just him and a whole mess of Storm Troopers running around with 8 people trying to stop him, and one of them was carrying a butter knife as a weapon. It just doesn't make sense.

I want to clarify. Just because you like BM, doesn't mean you NOT are a true fan. If you like it great. If you didn't that's fine too. There are many fans who liked the series. There are a lot who didn't. I was just trying to explain why I feel it was such a weak series, story wise, and why it should not be part of TF continuity.

Very true, the series had many problems, not all Bob Skir's fault (looking Hasbro's way), but it tried to continue the original universe and at least there were no animation and voice errors, like Armada and Energon. Being a sequel to BW was a good idea, but the story could have been much better, but at least it tried to do something new for Transformers, even though it was not executed right.

I think the biggest problem was trying to continue the Beast Wars mythos without Bob Forward and Larry DiTillio. If they had used those guys instead of Bob Skir and Marty Isenberg, things very well could've turned out differently.

Hasbro was tierd of the storys flying over the kids heads so they started over.

You know it kinda makes me sick to think that just cause a person likes a part of a series he is judged not to be a "true" fan. Well forgive me if you guys don't like my oppion but I thought BM was outstanding. My only problem was with the ending. I don't like how they basically turned cybertron into a new earth.

But outside of the ending I loved the series. which is speaking high volumns for me to consider these new transformer shows "good". I wasn't impressed with armada and RID just made me reech in ways I never knew possible. Even energon was no impressing me but I haven't had the time to give it the chance that it would need.

But I have alwasy been a fan of the orginal G1 show and when BW came along it took alittle bit but I eventually warmed up to it and it became a fav of mine. Now I know not everything made sense in BW and BM but I feel that sometimes it better just to enjoy the storylines than to try to disect it. If all we did was disect TV shows TFers would never have gotten off the ground cause we would all be asking dumb questions like how can a robot feel pain? or why didn't shockwave go looking for them. Stupid things like that it just was that way and that was good enough for me.

Now I have a full shelf and toat boxes full of TFers. Both mint, reissue, broken and abandoned. I am a former member of Team Stunticon as well as have a tatoo on my right shoulderblade of the 7 doves surrounding the decepticon symbol. I think it's safe to say I am aware of the line.

I have been a fan from the very begining, still am and will be for the rest of my life. I am a Transformers fan and there are series that Im gonna love and series im gonna hate. but just cause other like the ones I don't like or don't like the ones that I do. I know they are also "true" fans like me.

So to the "true" fans out there that love the series I say pick up the DVD and enjoy it. To the "True" fans who hated it I say don't waist your money or if you get a copy and then don't want it anymore send it to me. And to all fans I say long live the transformers!

[satire]Beast Machines sucked! How dare they deconstruct the carefully crafted story of G1!![/satire]

And let's face it, the whole "sentient robots" things has more problems with it than... well, at least more problems than any TF writers ever addressed. The continued existence of "gender-specific" robots is only one example of this. Let's face it, visually speaking, they're big people in robot suits. Think about it for a moment -- why would robots need to speak? That's how *people* communicate, and it's a very inefficient data transfer method. For that matter, why do they need fingers, legs, noses, mouths, etc? Again, it's just a lazy human-centric mindset. If you were really going to have a world populated by sentient robots, I daresay they could find better ways to move themselves around and talk, etc. But then they would look or act nothing like us, and it would alienate the kiddies who just want to see the big people in robot suits.
