Well, this is obvious to me and many others, however I made the poll because there have been discussions within the shout box and other places about how different people were brought into TF's by different shows. So I was curious to see what the breakdown was. :D

For me, Optimus Prime is G1 Prime.  Whenever I read the comics or see a picture I hear Peter Cullen's voice as Optimus Prime.  Like in MTMTE episode #2 when he tells Spike about the Autobots, "We're called Autobots.  We're from Cybertron, a planet far from Earth."  And then, "Those who tried to harm you are called Decepticons.  We must stop them befoe they destroy your world."  When his eyes light up that is so awesome and noble.  Man, it gives me chill bumps.

Amen to that!!

 

 

G1 prime is the ONLY prime I ever considered "Prime." I first saw him at the toy store, and the picture on thae back of the box sent chills down my spine. (You all know the one: the perspective shot of prime, with Starscream shooting at him, and the other transformers in the background, on the back of the g1 boxes.)

My first thought upon seeing that G1 box art was, "man, what's up with those wussy gloves everyone's wearing?" Followed by, "so why is there five of every character in this picture?"

 

I guess I never got the aforementioned "chill bumps" (whatever that may be).

I think a better poll in that sense would have been, "Who was the first Prime you were introduced to?", or something along those lines.

Heh heh... I was never exactly awestruck by those cheesy airbrushed murals on the back of the boxes. (Well, okay, the one with Fort Max was cool, 'cuz he was so huge.) But just so you know, the box art for Galvatron has to be one of my all-time favorite pieces of TF art. (If only the toy or the cartoon character had really looked like that.) So I'm not completely immune to the "chill bumps." :tftongue

 

BTW, I like how you separate G1 Prime from others simply by using his Japanese name instead. Not that I disagree about your conclusion -- if nothing else, the fact that every single Prime has been based on G1 Prime in some way (at least, every one that mattered) should be enough of a giveaway.

I think the numbers are in and we all voted that G1 Prime is the only Prime plain and simple. The rest are just pretenders.

I wouldnt say they are pretenders, they werent meant to be OptimusPrime except maybe Armada Prime aka Micron Convoy. They are compeletely different characters that just so happen to look like him and in some cases have his position as leader of the autobots.

 

 

While I agree that G1 Prime is Optimus Prime, Fire Convoy is my favorite of the Autobot leaders.
