Transformers Evolutions: Ex Machina III

Instructions...love to. Really would. The problem is that MLCad - that's a free lego design program to those who don't know - doesn't have all the parts needed. Maybe after a few more parts updates...

Yeah, there are several prominent parts there that I don't recognize. Do you tend to buy parts only from Bricklink stores or did you get a lot of that from sets?

It's all from sets. Which bits don't you recognise?

that second megatron is awesome. i'm amazed at the amount of articulation given to these guys, especially since they're able to hold a pose with just bionicle joints

The ones circled in red. on your film Megs I think I see wings that are longer/skinnier than any in my collection.

Also, the 2 little discs I have circled in yellow... are those swivels taken out of their frames?

Captain Modesty: I'm pretty sure those ball joints aren't ball joints at all but the new compound ratcheting joints instead. They hold a LOT more weight. I bought about 40 of them from a Bricklink store and use them any time I need to fabricate a joint that needs that type of movement range.

For lego hinges, you can either buy the flat type and use several to hold weight or you can build your own using Technics axles and bricks that can hold a lot more weight than you would think.

Right, working clockwise from top left:

A lot of these turned upside down.

Bang on the mark. They make excellent mechanical-looking components that way up and are good when you need clearance - plus the frames are good for tiling.

That would be this, a newer form of lego wing, this one taken fro the very useful v-wing set.

That's this non unhelpful component, the two here taken from acouple of Life on Mars robots.

And you're quite right about the joints - Exo Force has been a god-send in that department. However, a great deal of my time goes into getting the balance right!

Thanks for the info :)

I've been wanting them to make some longer, slimmer wings for a long time. I'll have to pick up some sets when I get some lego money.

I also need to pour all of my lego back into a big drawer. I arranged all of my parts by type and color in tackle boxes and have had ZERO creativity since. I guess it works better for me to be digging around for a part and to run across several other parts that give me ideas in the process.

Lately all I've used my lego for is frame material and joints in kitbashes. I find that a couple of layers of technic gears and link chain makes a pretty good looking tank tread too, and are a lot less of a hassle than scratchbuilding treads.

Wow very nice! I'll buy that!

Me too! Mine lego is alternatively in several big boxes and strewn across my bedroom floor! My method is to pour it out onto a big mat and rummage through for the right parts.

Interesting. A lot of people do that. I must admit, I lack the skill for 'proper' kitbashing but I admire people who can make such great use of the avaliable parts.

Last few pics of Megatron on his own: with cannon!

Incidently, he would have had a morning star, not a beam sabre, if I'd had the components to make it. I may yet but it'll take some thinking about...

Terrorising the locals:

The last lot of photos will be some comparison shots...

I, II and the robot body.

For scale: full sized Cyb. Galvatron.

I, II, Fusion cannon and beam sabre.

This could complicate the whole 'Big Three' thing.

And that's that!
