Okay, question. If customes opens MP Megs and he's in bot mode, How will they know that his barrel has an orange plug on it? They aren't TF experts like us. Wouldn't they treat the plugged bots just like the unplugged because they dont know the difference?

 

Also, why is there no customes hype of the recent G1 megs reissue rerelease?

I don't know, but when I ordered Reissue Megs from overseas about two years ago I didn't have a problem with customs at all - and he is boxed in his bot mode as a P38.

 

Personally, I think that this whole customs thing with MP megs is all hype, and a politically correct way for the retailers to cover their butts from potentially confiscated shipments. It removes them from the complaint process should thousands of angry fanboys (myself included) lose their orders to some overzealous customs agent.

I wish people would stop bringing this up. Megs will be released in a few weeks and so far we haven't heard anything about the people who are selling him w/o the plug as to whether they've had to change their plans because there's no doubt that if they absolutely have to and can't sell him otherwise, they'll email all any everybody who's pre-ordered one and let them know.

 

Just let it be. If they have to, they'll let us know and those of us who pre-ordered from places that have planned to do that from the beginning will probably get it sooner than those of us who didn't.

reissue megs didn't / doesn't have a gun, mp megs is entirely too big to be mistaken as a gun, not to mention he's packaged in bot mode. most of the retailers that are adding the plug are doing so AFTER it goes through customs. point being they're afraid of breaking some obscure law of some-sort and getting a lawsuit.

 

as far as customs is concerned, give me a Powerglideing break... they don't even check 10% of what comes into this country. there's simply too much coming into the country to check much more. the likely hood of customs seizing this guy are almost nil, not to mention that US Customs isn't the sharpest tool in the tool-shed when it comes to finding things. hell i'd be willing to wager that at least 50% of the illegal drugs in america make it through customs, and there are TONS of those, not to mention i'm sure they've got their hands full of more concerning things than a toy gun, and if they don't, then Bob Saget we need some Powerglideing reform!

Box features his gun-mode. And, at a distance, even if the gun is too large, it will be easily identifiable as a gun. The point of banning realistic toy guns isn't because they may be used as real guns, it's to prevent accidents with police, who, when they see a realistic (toy) gun, may consider it a threat. SO in order of preventing such a situation to occur, a law has been implemented to ban such realistic-looking toys.

 

Ofcourse, it is odd that toy guns are banned, yet real guns are still allowed. But thatis an entirely different discussion.

I this this is butt coverage too. BBTS ships in the US so they have to get the toys from overseas first. Unless they have working in Japan/HK. I preordered with Action HQ. cant wait to take some unmodded bot pics

Also as said, less then 10% of shipments get checked and only stuff that is out of the ordinary, at least in Holland. My sister works at customs, she told me. It's unlikely a known toy company gets it's shipments checked, not impossible though.
