Well, as I was splitting up my TF's for display I split up vehicles and beasts. Then I came at the point of Scrapmetal. It got legs and a cockpit, so what do you think he should go along with, beasts or vehicles?

I think it's kind of a hybrid.

In the show and toy packaging, they refer to them as "insect like Transformers" that "swarm" and were enlarged by the black hole's power. But they're vehicles clearly cause don't forget, Coby redesigned a dead Scrapmetal body into a transforming tank that he called Coby Bot. So it's kind of hard to place them. I keep it simpler for me. I don't divide by alt modes. I divide them up by faction and series. So he's in with my Cybertron Decepticons.

someone gets inside the cockpit... it's a vehicle.

What about the G1 Insecticons? They have cockpits. And the Dinobots do too (I think?)

Never used outside of the diaclone line, or in any tf canon besides them being on the toys. So they really don't count. But then neither would allow pilots. Maybe grimlock he if was in a good mood.

The scrapmetals are spider-tanks btw. They are vehicles.

Yeah, there are very similar vehicles in the game Total Annihilation.

Quoted for truth.

and more truth.

Vehicle. not all sentient machines become like people, some are feral, and insect like in their behavior, i suppose. These would be that way. Insects in their heads, and vehicles in their bodies.

The Scrapmetals are descended from the Insecticons according to their online code bio thing
