Next Takara G1 Re-Issue

Recommended Posts

Ahhh...but Takara has already reissued the Ramjet, Thrust, and trailbreaker toys back in 2001. The molds exist. They are sharing those same molds that Takara used in 2001. Thanx.

I knew they reissued several of the jets as e-hobby exclusives but I wasn't sure if it was the ones with unique parts or just the ones that were straight recolors of the starscream mold. I actually did some checking after typing out the previous post and got confirmation that they released thrust and ramjet as e-hobby exclusives. I also checked to verify that the Trailbreaker/Hoist set was reissued thru e-hobby. thanks for the info, though.

Are they worth buying at $30 a pop. Most of them are the same mold anyway. All the planes are they same. I own 2 reissues right now. But why did hasbro make them so expensive.

The fact that most TRU shelves are stuffed should show Hasbro that their pricepoints are way too high. However, I have more than half of the reissues (and a few over-priced Takara's, too) because the truth is I will buy the figures at those prices if I really want them because I have no choice. Hasbro knows this and also knows that it is doing us a favor by even paying attention to such a small niche market, so I don't see the prices coming down (on new releases at least). Our only recourse is to let them sit on the shelves, collect dust and wait for a sale. Problem w/ this is Hasbro may consider dumping the line if they don't see enough interest in it.....

This isn't all Hasbro's fault, remember these are TRU exclusives so they get a say in pricing

The line isn't doing well because simply put, the demand is too low enough to meet the high supply

I agree, it's not all Hasbro's fault by any means. TRU had a fairly big sale a while back but they should be doing things like that on a regular basis, not a one-time-shot.

I also agree that the demand is waning. However, I really think it is due more to the choice of characters that are being released. Remember the first collection? Prime was next to impossible to get. Now, it is easy to dismiss that as being attributed to the fact that it was a new line and everyone was excited about it. However, I seem to remember plenty of Ultra Magnus' on the shelves...because he is not a propular character.

I think maybe if they released some more figs that were consired "fan favorites" (instead of hoist, red alert, etc.) we might see more interest in the line...even if they are a little over-priced.

I have to agree that an ex-fan would be more apt to buy the reissues if they were of popular characters. I mean, I know that I pick up all the reissues I can, Hasbro and Takara alike, but for the average costumer in a TRU with their kid wont say "OMG! Grapple!! He was my favorite!"

I think that hurts the line in the sense that non avid fans wont want to fork out 30 bucks for a toy they are unfamiliar with when around the corner they have $10 Energon figures. Like BG says, the target audience is small. But guys like Prime, Soundwave, Starscream, and Megs(even though they can't) would fly off the shelves without needing a sale.

at least you are not collecting Takara reissues.

relative to Takara's prices, i don't see much to complain about....regarding Hasbro

isn't there any new news about Hound yet? i hate the the period of intervals between reissues. just before reissue - exciting, after reissue - excited to know the next reissue, in between - boring...

actually, perceptor might be a Japan-only release due to some of the small/breakable parts on him that couldn't just be replaced with larger or rubber parts (i.e - the shoulder flaps)

the takara reissues are pretty much the same price as the hasbro ones ($30 on most of them), only you get the better packaging and extra paperwork with the takara ones.
