Maybe they knew no one would even steal him.

I too hate the rubberbands.

Twistys are a non issue because all I do with a figure like Primus or Unicron or anything larger than a deluxe is pull out the board & clip the ties from the back side. Done in minutes with little or no effort. :thumb

Now those alt bubbles are a Starscream. :tfmad

actually you should clip from the front - it frees them that much quicker. like if a prisoner had shackles that were attached to his jail cell, if you clipped the shackles where they connect to the cell, he still has the shackles on. but if you clip them where they attach at the prisoner, he's completely free.

american companies use twist ties to artificially inflate the cost of a toy. it's like the pentagon spending $5000 on a hammer and funneling the difference into a shadow ops project.

No, jackass... it's a theft deterrent. As a kid, it was nothing to rip open the bubble and shove a G1 or G2 Bumblebee in your pocket... (I know, I've seen me do it...) but with all the twist ties, even if you demolish the packaging, you've still got some work before you can get the toy clear and free. Hence the logic behind more ties on smaller bots. By the time you get all the twist ties off a basic, they've already hauled your thieving little ass up to the security office. :wave

Come to think of it, how would ADDING material to the packaging "artificially inflate the cost" without costing them more money? :wtf

You're an idiot. *shakes head*

Supremes in twisty ties are the worst. Took me at least half an hour get Armada Unicron out of the box without wire cutters.

me too - imagine my chagrin when i found he was missing his planet rings :grr

giant toys like that can't help but have a Blotload of twist ties. But yeah, I use wire-cutters (I call them tin-snips).

But the Americans do tend to use a LOT more twist ties than the Japanese - I always notice that my Japanese Transformers have waaaaaay less twist ties than my Hasbro ones. Takara tend to use more tightly-fitting insert trays instead, which I much prefer over twist ties.

I think part of it's the problem of shoplifting. I know they're kids toys, but I can't tell you how many times I've seen a opened card figure with the figure gone, or a Alt box w/o the Alt. The bigger figures sometimes have accessories missing.

In Japan however, the kids are raised to be respectful and honorable and stuff, so they're not expected to do sh!t like that, so they don't have as much need for twist ties as they do here.

Damn the American shoplifters. I agree, why can't we have molded plastic encasing them. That's how they do it with the Power Ranger toys and stuff like that.

Yup, twist ties are the devil. A few of my bots have acquired loose joints from the stress of being pulled and twisted up by the wirey monsters. And I always seem to miss the clear rubber bands, which leaves me baffled when transforming a bot, and certain parts seem to be stuck together and whatnot. :redface
