when you buy a 'bulk' lot of transformers - you'll always get at least 1 gobot item!

i hated them as akid - it was like ' I wanted a TF and i got a nasty gobot?' mind you it was better than nothin!

 

and - this is the worse part.

 

I got asked if i wanted the big gobot base (AT-AT style thing) and about 20 minbots or g1 prime. i chose the base (cos of the 20 little bots) and when i got it realised that my stupid parents had thought i would get all the bots off the front of the box! - needless to say I didnt and was stuck with the huge pile of p00 that the Gobot fortress thing is. - instead of prime.... Gutted

I've never actually watched the show, but I have seen a video clip, read a detailed ep synopsis (complete with spoilers), and seen some screen caps. I used to dismiss them as inferior until I learned more about them. Anyone know where you can submit fanfic based on the original Gobots? I have a TF/GB crossover fic that I would like some Gobots fans to review. I want to make sure my characterizations are accurate.

If you are talking about "An Unlikely Alliance," yes. I am doing a sequel called "Revenge of the Renegades." I already have it started. I'm also planning a 3rd installment that will take place in the Post-Movie era.

I remember Fitor being a jerk. I'm pretty sure Pathfinder and Small Foot didn't get a whole lot of characterization... Pathfinder got more than Small Foot, but not enough for me to remember.

 

Leader-1's actually not a whole lot like Optimus... He's more like Hawkeye Pierce from M*A*S*H, both in terms of attitude and voice intonation. I kid you not.

 

Cy-Kill's a pretty stock character, just a blustery bad guy with a fairly ridiculous voice to boot.

tank was your demolisher-ish muscle type character.

 

think acree with pathfinder.

 

fitor was definitely gobot's starscream, just not as obnoctous about it.

 

small foot was like bumblebee if mem serves correctly.

 

i would say leader-1 was more so like leonardo, from tmnt, as a leader.

I have a ton of old Gobots, but most of them are busted junkers. They weren't as sturdy as most TFs, were they? Never had any Rock Lords. I've always wondered what the were thinking when they came up with transforming rocks.

I had one Rock-lord and that was enough to never get another. I don't remember it comming with a gun or any accessories. His name was Magmar and I think he was the leader. Don't ask how I remember that cause it just came to me. I also remember some animals that turned into fuzzy rocks called rock-gnarlies, anyone else remember that? Wasn't there a movie that featured Go-bots and Rock-lords?

I can honestly say that I attended the Go-Bots/Rock Lords motion picture in an actual theatre when I was a little tyke in Oregon. As I recall, aside from my older brother and I, there were two other kids in the whole room with us.... must have been the matinee. :tflaugh1

 

One part I remember is that the Go-Bots revealed to the Rock Lords while on their planet that they had organic brains... I guess as a gesture to show they were good instead of evil, or that they were similar to the Rock Lords.... or sumthin'.

The thing I liked about GoBots was the size uniformity in bot mode. That was really my only problem with Transformers, was the height difference between charachters that should have been the same size according to the show, or vice versa. (Menasor not much taller than Soundwave, etc...) The only GoBot that was the "wrong size" was Scooter, who should have been smaller. GoBots were cool. Not as cool as TF's, but damn close. Rock Lords... different story. I had one. Briefly. He met an untimely end. I shall say no more.

I was never a fan of the show *never could stand scooter.. eh what am I talking about I just couldn't stand the whole cast* but the figures where alright as someone said earlier they were the poorboy TFers. but some of them were cool... They were the stunt doubles for my TFers :eplus

 

The only one I really wanted was puzzler the 6 car combiner. in fact I'm still looking for one. But the only thing of Go Bots I have currently is the gobot walkie talkies still in their box.

 

I thought rocklords was a part of He-Man. or am I thinking of something else??? :tfhuh
