when it comes to the average transfan and collector at some point they reach the point where they at times must weed through their collection to either make room for some of the new stuff or to decide which ones to pass on to the kids in the family when it comes to the more kid oriented toy lines such as armada and energon.

 

 

 

such is my case.

 

every year i find myself in that scenario and as always i keep a small number of figures from each line that i feel best represent a particuler memmorable classic generation 1 character.

 

for me its not so much a desire to expand on my collection as it is a desire to create a collection made up of the best figures from each toyline over the years where each figure is modified to the point that in my mind the figure best represents said classic characters from the 80's cartoon.

 

megatron for example i have used cybertron galvatron for the base figure. i modded his shoulders and rebuilt them with styrene while i modified the lower legs and feet so that instead they can rotate out to the sides beneath the knees with the legs still facing straight ahead he also sports a set of heavy duty treads through the rear half of his vehicle mode while the back of his lower arms were modified so that they would instead form a 2 piece ramming shild assembly for the front of the vehicle mode while the back of his vehicle mode has armada galvatrons rotating turrent assembly and long range tank cannon with the top of the turrent having been modified to the point that it has tidalwaves bridge and mortor cannon assembly built on top of it .

 

as for his robot mode. i salvaged and modified both of dark crumplezones missile cannons with megatron sporting one on each lower arm and the cannons being set up on the front of his vehicle mode.

 

as for starscream i used voyager sized starscream from the vector prime 2 pack.

 

thundercracker is a repaint of energon starscream in g1 colors and the same for skywarp but with him sporting robotmasters starscreams wings and the rear wings mounted on his back

 

 

 

for devastator iused constructicon maximus with one back hoe limb having been rebuilt into a dump truck using parts from a knock of same size long haul for the cab and folding hinge dump bed assembly

 

long haul still transforms the same way scrapper does who know turns into the other backhoe.

 

as for the other crane truck limb i used the mixbarrol drum and lower cab and cab to turn it into a rather decent looking cement truck with the uppoer legs for the robot mode having been remolded with sculpey and some tiny lego nano parts to cincrease their bulk for the robot mode

 

you get the idea im sure.

 

so far i have soundwave from cyb scoundwave

 

so far for rumble and frenzy i am using a scrapmetal figure for frenzy and a saignalflare for rumble.

 

for ravage and laserbeak i used bwm ravage with him sporting a modified tmrattrap tail. and the guns being on his lower legs and peggable in his hands as well. while laserbeak sports bm distructicons lower arms and clawed hands for the robot mode and bw magnaboss prowls upper legs to give her a somewhat better set of legs.

 

as for shockwave i used energon shockblast with him using energon landmines left arm with the right arm mounted shiled being mounted on the lower left arm and it using eneregon snowcat's missile launching cannons on those 2 rod bits.

 

as for bruticus i am using a tech jet from superion maximus for blastoff

 

a tank limb for brawl and a helicoptor limb for vortex with barricade for onslaught

 

an addition tank limb was used for swindle upper body and the upper body waist from a thrid tank limb salvaged to extend the upper body of the main tank limb which is built into strong arms lower body and with strong arms legs and feet still attached. i ditched the treads form the upper body's back and sanded down the rotating pegs with the rear wheel wells from strongarms upper body molded into place over them.

 

yes he still turns into a jeep but with it being a hummer sized one at that and yes hecan stillcombine asa lower leg.

 

 

 

as for the reflector trio im just gonna use the street speed team in g1 reflector colors.

 

right now i am pretty much stumped as 2 which 3 minicons can be used for the insecticon trio.

 

any ideas people?

 

other then the reflector trio i have the entire decepticon cast from g1season 1 in adittion to bruticus as well.

I can't really help you out, for the simple reason that I never think about G1-themed kitbashes, but:

Don't you already have the G1 versions of these toys?

 

I don't see the point in trying to kitbash non G1 TFs into becoming G1 characters... if I wanna play with G1 Reflector, I'll go grab my G1 Reflector. Can't beat the originals! ;)

why would you want them to look like g1 toys? they are not g1, they are not ment to look like g1.

I don't want to tell you what to do with your collection as its not my biz. But if you want them to look like shoddy g1 toys then why not just keep g1 toys and not buy any more?

I don't think it is so much to make them look like the toys from G1 but I think rather in nostalgia for the G1 show. Or perhaps because he can't find the G1 figures, and feels he might be able to design the G1 characters out of new figures. If he can do that then hey that'd be great to see.

basicly death axe each figure is not only the best figure representing each line that has benn produced over the years but after i finish modifying it each figure is what you could think of as being a classics take on said memmorable character from the 80's cartoon.

 

its like takeing a look at a non g1 transformer figure and seeing what it could be as a classics take on said memmorable character from the 80's cartoon.

 

a good comparison of this line of thought would be armada unicron before and after tfmaster bashed him up into a more faithful representation of the character

 

or like what that one guy did to alternator smokescreen bashing it up into a masterpiece style jazz figure.

i notice nobody answered what he was asking. the minicon from armada hoist painted right would make an excellent shrapnel imo. apart from that i can't think of anything.
