I HATE quintissons!

Man, what is your deal with these guys?

Seriously, I thought they were absolutely awesome in TF:TM. They were these mysterious, creepy guys (remember the part when each face takes a turn to laugh when that robot is executed?) that seemed to know something about Transformers (or at least to have some grudge against them).

Whether or not you liked them in Season 3 is another matter. (I think an argument could be made that many cool characters in TF:TM were turned into lame-o's in Season 3.) And even if you didn't like them, you have to give the writers credit for at least attempting to create an origin for the TFs, which is more than prior seasons of G1 ever did.

Personally, I think the idea of Transformers (both Autobots and Decepticons) essentially being former slaves is fascinating. I particularly found it interesting that the Quintessons' "slave brand" that marked their "consumer goods" was "taken back" by the Autobots after their liberation and turned into a symbol of pride for their race. Think of the symbolism, and how that would impact the meaning of Optimus Prime's motto -- "Freedom is the right of all sentient beings." The very symbol he wears on his arm would be a daily reminder of the necessity of that cause.

I dunno -- it's cool to me anyway.

The stories with them in um are pretty good, I'll admit that.

Actually, I wouldn't hesitate snatching up an Alpha Q. ^_^ In terms of concept and mere aesthetics, I'm all over Alpha Q if and when they bother making the figure. I really like the nod to the quintessons of old and the new bond to Unicron, Energon just makes me tingle all over :)

It's a pity the writers didn't have you beating the importance of that fact into them when they were WRITING season 3, Madhammer. I didn't like it back in the day and I don't like it now, but you made that whole arc of the Cartoon based TF Mythos sound awfully sexy.

Personally, I still prefer Furman's take as we can still have the Quintesson's in the Universe, but it opens up the race to much bigger things. It gives us a nod to their spirituality and what they as a race really boil down to as opposed to merchandise gone awry. Then there's their ultimate destiny being tied to the destruction of the chaos bringer, etc.

You know, I do like Alpha-Quintesson as well. I wonder if his name has anything to do with Alpha Trion. You know, Alpha Trion as Cybertron's "spokesman" and Alpha-Q as Unicron's. Just a thought.

I just wonder if he's ever gonna get his other 2 faces. "Quint" -does- mean 5...

I hate them with a passion....Kalamari with an attitude. :tfpuke

That was pretty wicked, and each face had a different sounding laugh. That's what I imagine when they are laughing in Transformers Ongoing #0.

These people act like they are clowns or something.

Man, I really hate clowns.
