Transformers' Armada: Starscream

Recommended Posts

I have to admit that as much a travesty Armada was, Starscream's character development was pretty good. I also, I commend the V.A. (I can't remember his name) who did the voice of Armada 'Screamer. He did a pretty good job in paying homage to the original Screamer's voice while adding his own twist. However, I will always prefer G1 Screamer for all of his decietfulness and...whining.

Toywise, G1 Screamer was a brick. A nice brick, but still a brick. Armada 'Screamer was a good idea poorly executed. Energon 'Screamer, aside from his size, is in my opinion the best figure out of all of them.

In my soul opinion the Generation 1 designs are the worste designs ever made... I mean if you think about it none of the proportions work out for most of their molds, and this doesnt relaly have to do with starscream but megatron, is it me or does his design seem impossible for a gun to turn into what he looks like in the show? I mean come on people generation one designs are horrible toys.

But my favorite design would have to be the Energon one... but I wont buy it because my armada and machine Wars scarscream make it look like a joke with size...

also im not bashing generation one because I think generation one transformers was the best show of the 80's so yeah ha ha

I completely agree about the G1 mold opinions, still love G1 though since it was the first and I grew up with them. :thumb

you and a lot of other people really don't get one thing when it comes to the g1 toys. at that time we had never seen any toys like the tf's before, so when they came out it was just the coolest things we had ever seen. the fact that they were bricks didn't matter, most action figures of any sort at that time weren't really any better.

it's hard to imagine that with all of todays improvements in all kinds of toys, but i can assure you back then it was a much different story. kids back then had a 10x better imagination than todays kids for one. just look at some of the other toys of the time, nothing was really any better.

everything in todays toys are far superior to the toys of the 80's. the video games, action figures, whatever. you name it and it has vastly improved. as the toys improved the need to apply the imagination to make them seem more fun became less and less. quite honestly i don't see that as a good thing.

basically you just had to be there or theres just no way to really fully explain the how's and why's of what made the g1 transformers great.

Comparing G1 toys and today's TF is as unfair and foolish as claiming that Mario Bros. during the NES sucks compared to the Gamecube versions simply because of superior graphics and gameplay, after all we should compare the games with their quality during that time and not after several decades. G1 toys were extremely good during its time and that is why us 80s' kids love them even until now. While Energon, Alternators, etc. are technically superior in appearance and features, it has already been 20 years since G1 toys were released after all.

yeah and you just proved my point, the design of the new starscream is superior because of how it evolved in time.

I'll admit that some of the old g1 TF are outdated compared to todays standards but hey back then we didnt care or didnt know any better, like someone already posted when they first came out they were the coolest things we ever saw. Since then the technology has changed big time and the toys are much better. Just look at the Binaltech/Alternator line or MP Optimus Prime, those alone will tell how how things have changed over the years. G1 Optimus Prime while old and outdated to some is still a classic as are the other g1 TF. I'm sorry but the Armada line just doesnt appeal to me and neither does the cartoon. Call me old but I'll stick with G1 anytime as well as the Binaltech/Alternator series.

Not really because you're still trying to compare a 20-year old toy from one today. If based on your logic, every toy today is vastly superior to what was made 20 years ago so like I have mentioned, time and modern technology is a very huge and unfair advantage of Energon/Binaltech over G1. You should based your review on the quality of toy during its time and not what it is TODAY.

Even within the context of just G1 figures, the seeker molds were weak. Extremely lacking in sculpted detail, a lacking transformation despite their size, and alt-modes that were only barely passable as F-15's, given how sectioned off and unstable they looked. Any of the Autobot cars were infinitely superior molds on all those fronts.

The Armada cartoon was an abomination. Its toys were little better. They all look extremely plasticy and cheap.

I'm not a die cast or nothing man either. I still like the plastic Alternators - but at least they look like real cars. Articulation would have been nice on the G1 toys, but considering advances in toy technology you'd think they'd bother to make Armada/Energon toys look realistic in their alt modes.
