Are there any comparison shots of this prototype with any other figures? If so, can you post them?

It was supposedly shelved due to high production costs back in '99, but was ironically smaller than the Armada version we ended up with a few years later.

I gotta say I prefer ArmadaCron's shellwings to the giant half a planet thing he's got on his back. I have a feeling that figure would fall backwards pretty easy, and the fact that most of the pics have him either leaning forward or with something behind him I have a feeling thats exactly what he did.

 

Still very cool looking though, very detailed and complex looking. Not sure what his exact transforming scheme was, so maybe he's more complex then ArmadaCron, more parts equals higher cost after all.

The transformation would most likely not have been as complex as Armadacron's. The shell wasn't hollow (it contained a drill, a claw, and something else), but it probably wouldn't have been too heavy, either. I seriously doubt Neocron ever would have fallen backward, considering he had the biggest feet EVER.

i gotta say i'm soooooooooooo glad we got armadacron as apposed to this guy.

Hmm. They all worked when I posted it. No bother. If you really want to see him just do a google image search for Neo Unicron. He was at a couple of toy shows in Japan, and was in a magazine at some point, and you'll find lots of pictures from those sources. Granted some are in awfully strange poses... (doing the splits, shell over head, etc).

 

I actually remember reading about him in Toyfare, and they were like "OMFG this is the biggest TF EVAR!!" but he's really not. I'd guestimate him at being around Leader Class size, only a little beefier.

That is still one of the coolest unproduced Transformers toys ever. The planet mode had a lot of detail.

It looks a little lot more menecing than armadacron. If the backpack could be easily removied (like armadacron's wings), It'd be one kick ass toy. That face is Powerglideing scary.
