question about g1 blaster

Recommended Posts

everything works great on him and the stickers are in great shape. i had to take him apart to unstick his play button but now everythings working fine, although can anybody tell me what the spring inside the tape door release (the long black thing that holds the door shut and goes up to let it open) is for? i just can't figure it out. it doesn't hook to anything... i'm thinking maybe theres a small peice i'm missing that would hook into the spring causing the piece to spring down whenever the button is released. i've noticed my cassette door comes open sometimes when you tf his legs, which led me to this question.

Maybe it's a vestigial piece from Blaster's non-functioning radio. The Microman version was a working radio.

it looks like theres a piece that connects the red tab to the spring, which would cause the black piece to spring back down....

i might fool around with it and see what i can do

I just reassembled one a week ago. I wish I could remember.

he works quite well without it, the tape door pops open when you jar the figure (i.e. tfing the legs) but it stays shut on its own with no force or problem. it's just one of those things that nag ya...

Then I'd wager that it's just a vestigial component from his old Microman days. Kinda like how whales have a pelvis even though they have absolutely no use for them since they have no legs (evidence that they evolved from walking mammals). ;)
