An idea that would probably be impossible but I think it's cool anyway

My Alt. Mode Sucks

Recommended Posts

The engineering on this would be insanely difficult and probably impossible, but...

Imagine Transformers toys that could change into an alter ego, that is, if they had one.

For example, a Hot Rod toy that, with a few reversals, snaps, clicks and changes, becomes Rodimus, and both have alt. modes and their transformations are fully functional.

Or, say, Megatron into Galvatron, Thundercracker into Scourge and Skywarp into Cyclonus, etc.

I know it sounds insane but it'd be cool if someone could pull it off

My thoughts on this:

a) Interesting idea, but close to impossibly, IMO

b) The only way anything like this would be remotely possible is if the figure was perhaps larger than MP Prime, and even then, it would probably be incredibly flimsy

c) I only see a HotRod/Rodimus combo working out, mainly because they share very similar details and design. Something like Thundercrackers into Scourge; they share absolutely no similarities, so it'd be close to impossible for those.

d) Decent triple-changers are hard enough; a quad-changer would even be harder, especially with TWO bot modes... Besides, current triple-changers (usually) have a good bot mode, one good alt mode, and one crappy alt mode that looks like a last-minute idea... Imagine for 2 bot modes and 2 alt modes!

Interesting thought, though. Maybe a scratchbuilder from here like Lobo, Viagra Prime, TFMaster or Wikkid would like to give this a shot... :)

I had actually thought of this for Rodimus before but as has been said it'd be so close to impossible it isn't even funny. For Rodimus I could see both faces in one helmet. Since the upper body of both of them is similar that much would work well however from the waist down they are totally different as far as the toys go. I suppose if you did show accurate it could work but then the rear of the car and track would have to be add ons, like the battle platform from G1 Roddy was. As you can see I have thought it out but I just don't know if I could pull it off. The reason for two faces is that Rodimus' is an older, tougher looking face while Hotrod's is younger and softer looking. Megs to Galvatron I can't see any way to do, nor Thundercracker to Scourge, or Kickback to Cyclonus, or vise versa I can't remember which became which been a while since I saw the movie.

There are prototype shots of a Starscream/Megatron alter ego transformer.

It could change into either robot, and a jet, also the gun.

I'd post a pict, but it's on a hard drive not in use at the moment.

Check the G1 Japan Laser Disk book shots if you can find some on line.

Rockman had some posted.

Hot Rod/Rodimus would be the easiest one, very similar robot modes and the vehicle mode, most you'd have to do is add the trailer for Rodimus as an accessory instead of part of the body

I think G1 Doubledealer is testament to the fact that even a Triple Changer who seems similar to what I suggested -- at least, he has two radically different alt. modes -- can be hideous :tflaugh

unless you made rodimus prime's trailer his bot mode legs, and hot rod's legs would fold up on his back.
