I've included Decoys here because, let's face it, they're just pencil erasers that were packaged with some of the 1987 Transformer toys. In Japan, Takara marketed them separately as pencil rubbers - nothing more. Hasbro sold them as "Decoys"... yeah right...

Spot The Difference! - two of these Transformers are meant to be decoys

So this poll includes:

+ Decoys

+ PVC statues - this includes Super Collection Figures, Mega Collection Figures, Heroes of Cybertron, K-T figurines, Kabaya candy and gum PVCs and models, TV and hobby magazine exclusive PVCs, MyClones, Q-Robos etc etc etc etc etc etc... and that's just the tip of the iceberg.

+ Any other kind of bust or statue

+ Happy Meal Transformers - McDonalds, Red Rooster... whatever.

I am voting NO - the 2006 survey is meant to measure the average collection of Transformer TOYS -- statues and busts =/= toys.

Everything on the right side of this picture does NOT count as a TF IMO.

All the Happy Meal Transformers here also don't count IMO.

I'd count official ones if they transform. (Happy meal, etc)

No vote either way. :thumb

My vote would go for "No" for the most part.

Although I think that McD's Happy Meal TFs should count if they're official stuff. PVCs and statues and Decoys shouldn't, nor should any of the Kabaya gum/candy/model stuff.

Now this relates back a bit to my question from a little while ago: where do Takara Pla-Kit Collection PKS-01 Grand Convoy Super Mode or Takara Pla-Kit Collection PKD-02 Grand Scourge Hyper Mode fit in? They are model kits, but they're official Takara transformable figures...

do the smallest dinobots count ?

and for titanium figs ? I would say 3" doen't count, but 6" yes..

FreedomGundam: Yes. All those plamodels count - remember that a lot of the Kabaya gum/candy and magazine-exclusive kits also transform too. If you're going to count the Pla-Kits then you must also count all those others. Also, Happy Meal Transformers can transform too.

Btw, everything that I've cited on this thread is officially licensed. I'm not going to bother including unofficial/unlicensed customs, Knock-Offs etc., because they clearly do NOT count as Transformers period. These polls are meant to iron out matters of opinion - products not manufactured under licence from HasTak under the Transformers logo don't count.

I'm necessarily actively discouraging (nor encouraging) people to collect KOs or pre-TFs by saying this - but understand that a collection of KOs and Pre-TFs =/= a "Transformers" collection, as the legal definition of "Transformers" would be a toy manufactured under official license from HasTak.

Even though the gum/candy PVCs and model kits are manufactured by Kabaya, it was done under license from Takara, hence they are official. Likewise the McDonalds Happy Meal Toys were manufactured under license.

Gambit: Good question, I'll stick that in a future poll.

Decoys, statues and PVCs shouldn't count IMO since they are collectable trinkets rather than toys.

However I would include the Mega SCF figures since they are nice and poseable snd action figures (the same way I'd count action masters)

all this stuff is making my head hurt.. :( :)

I would say that most people that collect TFs don't collect these as well (myself included), so I think most would say that they don't count (myself included).

They don't TF so they don't count.

Yeah, but the Mega-SCFs weren't marketed as mainline figures and were instead marketed as merchandising "trinkets" in the same vain as the regular SCF PVCs.

Initially I refused to count the Legends of Cybertron figures because in terms of engineering, they're no better than the Kabaya figures and kits that are sold with confectionary in Japan. But then someone pointed out to me that whereas the Kabaya figures are clearly marketed as "trinkets," the LoC figures are not - and are sold alongside the mainline TF figures in toy stores. For that reason I have come to count LoCs as Transformers.

Oh well I only have one Mega SCF figure, I guess its not overly critical....
