How many flaws are you finding...

Recommended Posts

I've noticed a few threads about a particular Alt. or BT having flaws, I tend to say little on the flaws I find. I've noticed that the BT and Alt. Lines have been suffering from very poor parts, mostly in the arms and legs. Like for example BT Prowl's arms can pop off too easily, his doors aren't safe either. Alt. Wheeljack has flaws where his arms and doors pop off well too easily and Alt. Shockwave has a flaw where his right arm falls off.

What flaws are the rest of you finding in your BT/Alts.? Are the flaws ruining your enjoyment of the TF in general? I like Alt. Wheeljack, but his flaws are very annoying. I'm done.

-Such a nice line, let down by nasty flaws.

Every time I see an Alt Riccochet, the back of the car is split in half and refuses to push together properly. Smokescreen and Silverstreak seem to fit together nicely, but this third use of the mold in the Alt line might be one use too many.

I don't like the Mustang mold, either. Same things you mentioned, plus the paint can get scratched easily with the clips coming off the back of his windshield and if they don't align right, you can scrape the paint off the feet where they fold up and meet the roof. Car mode looks really stupid then.

Chris

there have been problems on the last two alts i have bough.

i bought a streak and windcharger when they first came out and kitbashed them and looked for replacements.

these replacements have had easier chipped paint and slightly off paint apps. nothing major really though

I spent many minutes trying to get Ricochet to line up and found out that after many transformations later, you find a way to transform them properly. This particularly is true with the repaints. I found out that after some trial and error, Ricochet fits and aligns as well as Smokescreen and Silverstreak.

Also I was able to transform Camshaft without any of the arms or rear bumper popping off, unlike Prowl. Still some suffer the loose joints problem, which some nail polish usually fixes. The Mustang Alts are nice, but I too hate the part where the roof and back windshield meet. Scratched up Grimlock without trying.

My Mirage had one of his chest flaps glued... it snapped. :grr

I fixed it though. :(

The front grille of my alt prime will not stay on if moved, the leg joints are incredibly loose (a common problem with the figure, I hear)and the head had silver paint split all over the fside & top. Not impressed with the figure at all. The general quality of alts has gone downhill a bit too quickly for my liking.

My Mirage has no engine Wooot! I'm soo happy bout that. :)

my general idea is that in the begining of the line they realy put alot of effort into them, but as they grew in popularity they took less and less time worrying about qc because my smokescreen, sideswipe, and hound are flawless, however.... with grimlock he couldn't stand up without having to put nail-polish or super glue in the leg ball joints he was like that right out of the box. after tfing him a couple times (4 at the most) his arms did nothing but dangle there, they've required a massive ammount of super glue to hold them there. with prowl his arms where loose, his feet where loose, and his driver's side door pops off whenever you look at it. the only problem i've had out of OP is that his hood won't stay open in vehicle mode, other than that i've had no qc issues with him at all, that goes double for Nem OP, some of his joints are almost too tight.

[inventory]

Sideswipe: OK

Smokescreen: 1st one OK, 2nd floppyish

Hound: OK

Silverstreak: OK

Tracks: Alt: ok. BT blue: super-tight knees. BT yellow: loose hips

Dead End: hood won't stay closed

Meister: OK

Swindle: OK

Grimlock: 1st OK, 2nd has alignment issues in alt mode

Windcharger: OK

Ravage: OK

Shockwave: OK

Wheeljack: alignment issues in alt mode

Decepticharge: Generally loose, piss-poor color matching

Swerve: missing small paint app on leg, they didn't even try to color match the red on the roof :grr

Prowl: Loose ankles

BTA alert: loose everything, floppy, prominent plastic bleed, unbalanced, a real POS

Skids: one of the front doors will not close all the way, shaved plastic bleed to improve, can't pin the rest down

Sunstreaker: Hood won't stay closed, had to shave plastic off of the door joints for them to meet properly with the fenders in alt mode

Rollbar: hood latch a tight fit, standard missing paint apps

Ricochet: alignment issues in alt mode

Prime: Hood does not align properly in alt mode, nor latch properly in bot mode. Floppy knees.

Mirage: hood and trunk braces, knees, head: all floppy

Camshaft: one ankle support very loose, doors pop off if you breathe wrong.

Nemesis Prime: floppy knees/hips.

TREND... DETECTED [/omegasupreme]

I've said it before, the alternators line is by far my favorite. However the QC is definitely going down. From Smokescreen to Grimlock, my alternators have been top-notch.

Windcharger's hood and windshield piece that swivels wouldn't sit properly/straight--it was crooked to one side because the little knob beneath it that would click it in place was bent. I had to take Windcharger apart to fix that.

Prowl, Skids, and Optimus have some major scuff marks on their hoods or windshields. It's as if they were baseballs that were thrown out after being in a game. Sure you can argue that it makes for some "battle damage" appearance but I don't want that.

Optimus and Mirage both have some loosey-goosey joints, Optimus more so than Mirage. That seems to be pretty common. And my Mirage also has a ? crack on his roof that seems to have been glued over.

My Ricochet's face has one small area that is missing paint (not counting the nose of course). Similar to others, the right front shoulder doesn't latch onto the magnet very well in Imprezza mode. He seems more frustrating to get back to this said mode than his two predecessors.

Lastly, and just to reiterate what some of you all have also mentioned, Sunstreaker's doors don't seem to align flush in Viper mode, so there is a little crack in-between the door and his rear body.

I won't count Meister's arms since it seems moreso inherent with the overall design that ALL Meisters' arms pop off easily. And I won't count the apparent laziness on the Alternator line vs the Binaltech line when it comes to the paint job and plastic. It seemed that before, the paint applications were virtually identical b/w the two lines. However, lately I see that the Binaltech line has more detail and care involved with the paint scheme. I mean, Wheeljack's head should have received more than just a little black sliver (Transrepro's head piece looks pretty cool) unlike the silver and black on the Binaltech version. (not to mention his engine) Prowl's baby-blue colored plastic is terrible. Skids, Optimus, Sunstreaker all have more details on their Binaltech versions (the flames and black lines are not that difficult). And Camshaft's lack of color in RSX mode is very poor.

I would not pay more than $25 anymore for these as QC is definitely slipping.
