I just want to pitch in - lest this thread be renamed the Madhammer Vs Joshlowe Gheybo thread - I really can see both sides of this.

 

But In concept i have to agree with LMH, even though i find his unrelenting uncompromising position on this subject a little douchey.

 

For my part - I really really loved the First proto.  And the second one is in fact a dissapointmnet based on the expectations of the first.

 

However - the second one also brings its own strengths to the table.

and it didnt take long for me to get over it.

 

I dont need new figures to be exact replicas of my lost childhood in order for me to enjoy them, What i really like about the Alts, BTs, and MPs is that they invoke the same emotional "WOW" response in me that the G1 figures did back when i was 7.

 

Its not nostalgia. And the same emotional response wouldnt be achieved if the complexity and intent of the new figures was the same as the old ones.

honestly though, I don't seriously know what I'm being uncompromising about. all I'm saying is that the bitching gets old after a while, especially when the figure in question is so great. And I also don't get how the first proto was better. Like, for real. So maybe I'm just blinded by my own opinion (likely enough to be true), but I'm really not seeing how that first proto was so fan-fellatingly awesome compared to the second one. It seems a bit silly.

Having seen both protos, the MP Convoy style legs on the first one leave me cold. Anyway it's more show accurate not to have the tail fins on the feet b/c they didn't have them in the show :P

You're short with people for Starscreaming because you say it's not really that big a deal.
