but i want that one![/whiney]

I applaud your honesty :thumb

I assumed MP Starscream would have been red/white/blue, I would have bought him if he were in his original colors, but I guess I just don't mind the lack of color that much, since it makes him more disguise-y

disguise? what the hell do they need those for?

i swear to god, if i buy him and he gets released again in g1 colors afterwords, i will literally wheep.

Does any deviation from the original G1 character make it "not G1" anymore?

Yes it does mean they're no longer G1 as G1 finished years ago.

That doesn't mean they're bad, but it makes a difference.

Binaltech are not G1.

They're G1 characters, but in a more modern setting. Technically, they're MTMTE G3 if anything.

For me that's great. It's got some of the perks of G1, but isn't tied.

That sounds like Outback nitpicking, but take two people who've never heard of Alternators but remember G1, tell one you're going to give him a realsitic G1 Prowl, and the other that you're giving him a realisitc new Transformer called Prowl, and the expectations will differ based on that.

Most of my friends are not Transformers fans, but their reactions vary as much as the fandom's do; it's not just us.

G1 is a two edged blade, it will sell things just because G1 is revered, but people will be disappointed because they love G1 as it was.

Either way, HasTak have always recognised this, G1 has always meant G1 and anything G1 based has been sold as something else.

Changing those definitions greenlights the passing of any old crap onto fanboys who'll buy it because it's supposed to be "x" character.

In fact:

I'm sitting next to Beast Wars 10th Anniversary Optimus Primal and Megatron right now.

Seriously, if that's the extreem thing, that says everything.

Like you said, it doesn't resemble the show or toy accurately which, to me, is like releasing a figure to commemorate the original Superman movie that looks like Dean Cain and has the new suit.

When I say something's not G1, I don't mean it's bad or that I don't like it, I just mean that it's not G1 in terms of continuity, what was and wasn't present.

The only time not being G1 is bad is when it's calling itself that at the expense of something that is.

disguise? what the hell do they need those for?

Blots and giggles?

as long as hes got two giant decepticon symbols on his wings, i wouldnt say hes trying to hard to fit in.

aha

well I'm sure they'll include something in the booklet to explain Starscream's hitherto unknown "gray phase"

disguise? what the hell do they need those for?

shits and giggles?

as long as hes got two giant decepticon symbols on his wings, i wouldnt say hes trying to hard to fit in.

well you see....... I just don't think we need to be that anal-retentive about it. He has the :Dc symbols and the stripes because G1 Starscream had them... same reason there's blue and red bits in the robot mode: G1 Starscream had them. I think you can still say "the color scheme is more realistic" b/c it is... and anyway it's "more" realistic if you want to get picky about it.

Nevertheless, I have no idea at all what possessed Takara to change his colors. Like I said, I assume there'll be some sort of explanatory comment in the booklet.
