MP Starscream color comfirmed

Recommended Posts

It's not just that they showed us protos.  It all started with THS-02, when they basically put an ad inside the box saying "this is what MP-03 is going to look like!" and then, after selling us on one product, switched it to something else entirely.  I think that if it had not been for that ad I wouldn't be half as vexed right now.

"entirely"?

come on now. I can accept legitimate fan gripes about this figure not being G1 enough, but really.

i have to say i am with LMH on this one.

But seriously - i looked at the pic  over at TFW2005. I still dont now that that pic isnt a photoshop.

But it doesnt really matter does it - even if thats the basic colorscheme. I guess the complaints would be the same.

I dont remember every one Starscreaming that MP-Prime has WHEELS on his legs.

Cause you know - in the cartoon - he never did.

I am almost 30 here - and i gave up on G1- Show accuracy as the defining feature of a good TF after like the second figure i ever got.

FWIW, nobody bitched because the original G1 toy did have wheels on the legs.

ya know, FWIW.

I guess then the MP line doesnt really have this precedent that so many are assuming.

I guess then the MP line doesnt really have this precedent that every one is assuming.

The only precedent that I thought they had is that it was supposed to be the ultimate blend of the G1 cartoon and G1 toy to make the definitive version of the character.

*I emphasize "had" because that is obviously not the case*

i consider it like this we have got from the atl/ binal line cars from the beginning, and when they finaly decide to do something differnt they fly out of the ball park on it

I call bullsh*t on that. If nobody cared you wouldn't see anyone complaining about show accuracy, ever.

Well if people bitched, it wasn't as much...I guess what I'm trying to say is that even though G1 toon Prime didn't have wheels on his legs, the G1 toy did, and people were used to seeing them there, so it wasn't a big deal, whereas NO ONE was used to seeing hip kibble on Starscream ever.

All right, I think the main problem here is:

1. They chose the new, more realistic prototype over the UBERGEEWUNFANWANKOFALLTIME first proto - however, this is not the main problem, read on...

2. Fans go into FANWANKSHOCK over it...but most come to their general senses and see the coolness of the new figure.

3. Then, all of the hate starts up again when TAKOMY (Hasbro has not announced whether or not they're releasing this yet, so I'm not including them in this) chooses this colorscheme.

Basically, the hate comes form the perception that TAKOMY isn't even going to meet the fans halfway on this one - halfway being the new realistic mold, but colors that represent the true G1 Starscream in robot mode.

Just a thought.

but it seems to me that "halfway" is exactly what they went for... they *could* have made him look totally un-G1ish at all in his jet mode, you know like a real F-15 and stuff. But they gave him :Dc symbols (even on the nose cone, where you NEVER see markings) and those stripes... and unless I saw it wrong, they had "SS" on the tail fins.

I did was talking about the robot mode. I think I would have been okay w/out any insignias and stripes in jet mode actually, as I could have just gotten some :Dc logos from reprolabels.

And I hadn't noticed the SS on his fins...

a-ha

yeah I dunno, like I've said before, it was generally thought to be a cool idea to have the movie jets be all gray in jet mode but then have colored robot bits pop out when they transform..... okay this isn't the movie, but still I think it's a cool idea

I agree w/ both of these statements. It would work very well for the movie and be pretty cool, but no this isn't the movie, it is supposed to be an homage line (or at least that is my understanding, although TT is proving me wrong dammit).

All I was saying is that "show accuracy" is quite obviously a huge issue for G1 fans... which was originally spawned by the discrepancy between the G1 toys & the G1 cartoon. If everyone had been okay with it back then, there wouldn't be a problem with it today and we'd all be fine with a Starscream that didn't exactly match the show.

And since it never really got mentioned that I saw, I'd like to say that MP Starscream 1.1 looks way cooler in bot mode than MP Starscream 1.0 did, especially now that we can all see that the "hip kibble" was just "mistransformation". I'm cool with Prime being square and blocky since he's a truck and all, but Starscream needs a different look as a jet-former IMO.

And personally... "show accuracy" in a real-world TF when the show was a cartoon... eh that's asking for a lot IMO. The Takara PVCs are the only genuinely show accurate G1 figs ever released.
