Redder reds and bluer blues would help a LOT.

this figure has completely turned me off.. The first prototype was prefect for starscream, PERFECT!! They changed a bit of it, and I didnt really like it, but then the whit prototype showed up the other day, and I was like ok, in G1 color scheme this will rock balls... but this... this is.... horrible.... completely horrible. This is not Screamer. Thundercracker maybe, but not screamer. No sir, not at all.

but............ he's in disguise! :P

I remember the first time I saw Starscream back in the day, thinking "WTF why is an F-15 red, white and blue??" That lack of realism in a "robot in disguise" kinda bugged me, especially since so many of the other Transformers *were* really disguised in their alt modes. So I dunno, I guess I'm just not so fussed by it. Kinda like how I didn't care that BT Red alert wasn't a Lamborghini, since the likelihood of a vehicle like that ever actually existing is like zero.

but I understand nostalgia.

You really thought that 20+ yrs ago??? Man you must be OLD!!!!  :tflaugh I just thought, wow, what a cool toy, but then again, I was 5 at the time.

My problem w/ it is that I want the line to be an homage line, so I want the figures to resemble the originals as much as possible. To me, BT is another homage line but w/ the characters being updated (which is cool), while the MP line is the "perfect" G1 figure line, and by that I mean what I have always said, perfect cartoon accurate bot, good alt. That was how I saw the differences in the 2 lines.

Redder reds and bluer blues would help a LOT.

:pfx

Even if that's the final colorscheme, with deeper reds and blues it could work.

*hopes for blue feet*

Honestly, we won't really know until we see an actual painted figure instead of a washed out photoshop.

look, it'd be a lot easier for everyone if we just acknowledge that this is only an homage to G1 Starscream.... seriously, it would massively cut down on the angst

Actually, it wouldn't.

In terms of respect to the original, paying tribute to the aspects that made him what he was, the first is better.

I'm not saying it's the better figure, but in celebrating, honouring aspects of the original that the second mold snubs it's nose at, it is a more fitting tribute, a truer homage.

That's what is at the centre of all of this.

It's not a bunch of people looking at a figure and comparing it to high expectations no one could ever possibly match, it's them looking it MP03 v2 and comparing it to the first version, the version they originally bought into.

We were given two Starscreams with very different qualities; one the ultimate G1 fanwank, the other the ultimate realism fanwank.

There's a market for both, and by choosing not to deliver to both, by choosing to replace one with the other, they have alienated and annoyed one of those markets, opened themselves up to the comparisons and the crticism.

I mean do you really think anyone would waste their time moaning about this is they were still getting the MP G1 Starscream they were shown and sold on originally?

I turned 12 in 1984... I was also into military aircraft at the time. But yeah my oldest son (eight) isn't even at the point yet where he's like "hey that's not realistic".

Of course, this didn't keep me from buying Blitzwing and Ramjet (the jet that resembles nothing, though at least he could turn right or left).
