Michael Bay on the teaser trailer

Recommended Posts

I allways thought the thing with them beeing on mars was that they stoped there on their way to earth. They're resting up and some decepticon sees a rover and goes "heh heh lets kick it!"

:tflaugh  I was thinking that they got there first, and Megatron was like "WE SHALL PLUNDER "MARS" AND STEAL ITS PRECIOUS RESOURCES......"

*looks around*

"uh...WE SHALL PLUNDER "EARTH" AND STEAL ITS PRECIOUS RESOURCES..."

suddenly, you raise a very interesting point. when Mars isn't serving as the home planet of a violent, murderous race of aliens that want to invade Earth, it's lifeless, obliterated surface is used as an example of the world destroying capabilities of a violent, murderous race of extra-solar aliens that want to invade Earth, next. i bet you that the background to Mars might be that "The decepticons destroied all life there and now they're moving on to Earth".

If the transformations aren't similar to the Citreon ad.  I'm not interested.  I mean who cares about cars that Morph into robots.  it's not 1992.  The magic of transformers is the tranformation.  Otherwise they are just cars and robots...  Nothing new there (although it did sell a few iRobot movie tickets).

There's only one thing that I agree with the critics of the teaser. The blue sky in Mars. That was indeed a WTF moment in it.

i think that the transformations will be a bit more like BWN/RID-shellforming but with the kibble folding up into smaller forms so as to not obstruct movement.

at the Iacon One convention, Don Figaroa (sp?) said that the he submitted some design sketches for the movie and was rejected.  Due to the nondisclosure agreement, all he could say was the designs they picked are like nothing ever done in Transformers.

Mars has blue sunsets.

from what we saw of Bumblebee, we're dealing with T-800 endo skeletons that fold up and cover themselves with metal plating. or in the case of Starscream, vehicles that fold up like origami to form a robot mode. to me, it sounds like the movie designers focused more on creating a realistic portrayal of a robot that transforms into a vehicle and pretty much ignored the fact that the movie designs will eventually be translated into the form of a child's plaything. it's very possible that we'll end up with a Beast Machines-esque disparency between the cgi-models and toys.

i still think that people are jumping to way too many conclusions about this.

Jeebus Hornet - stop badmouthing the film before it comes out.

Has it occured to you or anyone that the BumbleBee was not fully assembled?

I mean that picture doesnt look like a scene from the movie - thats not a bunch of Army men transporting a prisoner - thats a bunch of Grips and Construction workers waiting to be told where to drop off and assemble the Ginormous set piece that the slick hollywood director demanded.

:note la la la, I'm not listening

...you know, soon I'm not going to be able to go anywhere on this board without reading detailed descriptions of things I've been trying to avoid

1: I'm not really badmouthing the movie, I'm just pointing out how difficult it will be to translate the movie designs into toy form.

2: Bumblebee had metal plating on his arms that looked like it might be car kibble but was really too small. to mean, it presents the possiblity that the kibble might fold up into smaller shapes in order to prevent obstruction of movement.

Granted, this is a forum, and people...yknow, talk about stuff.

But all of this talk has gotten way out of hand... so far we know next to nothing, and honestly, who would want to know more than that?  Don't you want to be surprised by the movie?  If it's not to your liking are you going to slit your wrists?

I personally will not read any more threads about the movie.  I'm sick and tired of it.  I want to walk into the theatre that day like a kid on his first day to Disneyland, all wide-eyed and drool-mouthed.  In fact they should hand out Prime antenna with our names embroidered on it :) [/disney]

anyway, enjoy your discussion about something you don't know really anything about.  LIke MH, I want to know nothing until it comes out, and so you will catch me over in the Toy, Art, KB forums.  End cap too :)

later!!

:D
