:tdown That is cheap, no way you look at it.  What he's doing is circumventing Ebay fees, which is a big NO-NO.  Completely against Ebay policies, not that I agree with them all the time.  He'll get kicked off Ebay for sure if they find out.

i don't see what's the problem. buying a sky lynx will cost you that much more or less. you are gonna spend lets say 160 dollars. then i wouldn't really mind if that money goes all to the guy or part to ebay and part to the seller. to me is just the same.

he stated clear he wants so much money, and he's not willing to give it to ebay. fine with me. if someone bids without reading its his fault.

all these fees to me are just bollocks. i'd gladly buy him sky lynx if i had the money.

ALSO... speaking of methods to rip ebay off i was thinking about this: you sell something and state clearly that each dollar you bid actually means say 5. that way 10 a dollars bid equals 50 dollars. so an item ended on 20 would actually be 100. yeah the minimum bid is raised = more difficult sniping on last second and serious bidders only.

but then again that was just an idea so i never really minded doing that.

If he's so determined to not give money to ebay, why not post on the boards. If he knows that sky lynx if worth 160, then I'm sure he knows about the many different forums. Just put it on any of the forums for the fixed price.

ok but why shouldn't he put it on ebay if he somehow feels safer that way? well i know you will point out now that such "safety" comes out just from rules that he is trying to avoid...

well after all this what i can say is that honestly cant care less.

Yeah, you got a good point there too. But again, I think if you're going to list on ebay, you should at least follow the rules. Yeah, whatever, i guess i saw that so later in the night i over reacted. Now that i thought about it, this is not the first time. Got to go to bed earlier I guess.  :roll

ive seen this done a few times and i agree its a little sneaky but hes only trying to get round e-bay not screw over the buyer

i can understand padding shipping to make up fees that'll be incurred and so forth, but switching the shipping and buy it now cost list that is just wrong.

just someone else trying to beat the ebay system... and they can because it's shipping and HANDELING.

buyer beware'd

2 reasons why this is wrong:

1) you're only insured through paypal and ebay for the *bid* amount, not shipping. This means that if you get burned and try to report it, you're only getting $10 back.

2) This is definitely against ebay rules. This is a way to circumvent ebay fees and is well known by ebay. In fact, if you go to the bottom of the page and click "report this item", you will be brought to a set of drop down lists, the last catagory of which (after "listing policy violations">"circumvention of ebay fees") contains "Excessive shipping and Handling," which I just did to every one of that guy's auction... and I suggest you do the same too!

When you first sign on to an ebay membership, you are met with a TOS agreement, which you then are supposed to read. You're only allowed to get a membership if you agree to the TOS, and actions like this are definitely catagorized as excessive shipping, which is against the TOS.

Lame and a half!

and the above reasons are why I said something to e-bay about him. The rules are the rules. period.

I'm no "square" and to be honest I love to see people cheat the fat-cats. But, not being covered because you've only payed $10 or whatever could turn ugly. I make you right for reporting them on those grounds.

Pay on a credit card & claim the shipping fees back under the "Item/service not as described" clause, using his actual shipping cost as proof. Could work?

he can refute that by saying shipping materials made up for the excess.

But the seller could never enforce that.  bidding on ebay is a contract to pay the bid amount.  not 5x that.  and the seller couldn't complain to ebay either, becuase he was trying to screw them.
