Alt Rollbar(DUW)

Recommended Posts

Thanks PK and Lobo, Im going to have to check with that guy to see if you can get a set of slot mags (like mickey thompson challengers) for the rims, since the tires are HAWT.

Thing is, whats the best way to adapt those to the suspension of the jeep, and by the way I dont care if that still works after the conversion or not, so long as the tires roll. Im thinking the fronts will need to swing away different or something, since the stockers are borderline in the way as it is.  Good thing you guys are always ready to help, Im going to need it.

PK--the jeep in my avatar is my ride. The rims came with it, and if I have to stick with something like those on my alt then so be it, I can deal. But again, for my alt (and the real thing) Im after a set of slot mags to make it like I really want.  I just emailed that guy, so we'll see. Those stone crushers would do the trick though.

Cody--Something else I just remembered, try looking for a die cast 1/24th scale Tomb Raider jeep. The wheels and tires arent any bigger than the stockers, but the rims are of around a 10-hole design (like those welds) and there are some other offroad goodies that can be used in the kit. Im going to grab one myself for the front bumper and offroad lites pretty soon.

Didn't think Rollbar would be so cool.  You justmade him a must have in my collection. :thumb

Thx for the complements guys.

Lobo, thx. that means a lot coming from someone who has done as much as you have.

Outrider74, I'll have to look into that. gonna be hard to do a wheel swap right now since my tools are limited. I'm at school right now, and our dorms have strict regs on what you can have. I wouldn't even be able to do this if they could find my paints. :tflaugh

but if I can get a hold of a soldering iron I'll go for it.

Hey man, welcome to the kitbash community!  And your first work?  Wow, these look great!  I've been wanting to detail my Rollbar for some time now, I've just had other projects lined up ahead of him (one of which were my Alt Seekers, and so I share your affection for the WRX mold; it's really a cool mold).  These all look great, all around (everything, your design choices, your paint apps, photography . . .).  I hope to see more!

Your welcome guys!  I'm going to get a set of those tires and see if I can do something with the Ram mould.  That is if I can ever find another Prime again.

If you guys put bigger tires on the Jeep, you'll definately need to mod the suspension.

The front's easy!  Just don't push the suspension arms all the way forward.

For the rear, I modified the rear axle and the black piece that it sits in.  Basically I just cut the pin that the wheel slides over and dropped it down.  Had to modify the suspension arm as well.  I did it with epoxy but styrene would work just as well.  Even got some pictures.

At one time there was going to be an article on it at Transtopia but it never came out.  I made mine so the suspension still works but it can easily be done without it.

I always wondered how u did that Lobo.

I may have to use this if I can get the blade to drop low enough.

Lobo, I know I've said it once, but I'll say it again, "you're the man."

Thats an idea, Lobo....But what I had in mind was a way to get the wheels to swing down or back or something while in robot mode so they wouldnt be in the way. Or maybe remove them altogether and relocate them on his shoulders or something. Dammit, why didnt they just do the jeep mold's arms/front wheels Grimlock style....The rears would be easy to lift, and again retaining the suspension action doesnt matter to me...

Awsome. All three look amazing for first time kitbashes. Definitely like Prowl the most. :thumb
