ALSO, the Nemesis Prime ALt is a toy convention exclusive ONLY?

initially.  But he'll be in HasbroToyShop.com after that.  They only ship to the US, but if you live outside the states, I'm sure you can find an American poster here to forward it to you.

Somebody help me out here.  You mean to tell me that the BTA Optimus is going to be PLASTIC?  I gave up on searching for it in the states, figuring the BT Diecast version would be worth the wait and all, and now its just the same as the ALT version?

Is Red Allert and the gray Scion plastic also?

Red alert and Broadcast both had Diecast, and so will Kiss Prime.  Can't find the actually annoucement from Tomy right now, but I know they did say he'll be Diecast, a plastic Alt was used for some promotinal stuff first since they were already available.

Initially it was reported in a hobby magazine that he would be plastic only. Tfsource said he will be diecast.  Since then another hobby magazine has reported that he will not be diecast.  I think he will be diecast, but it is difficult to say.

You know, I think the fact that Hasbro is taking it's sweet time with releasing main stream charaters is also hurting it. I mean who ever heard of rollbar? Okay he's a throttle bot...

Why did it take so long to finally get Sunstreaker and Prowl? It semed like years before we got to see them. And why skids...he could have been Iron Hide or even Ratchet. I say lets quit kicking around the lame characters and get on with some more main ones. Hot Rod anyone?

Sorry for the rant, this is the best Transformers line since G1 and it's like the people at Hasbro are really out of touch with the Fans.

Shouldn't you be blaming Takara for this? They're the ones who slowed down TFs for this year. Hasbro's keeping Alternators alive by re-releasing older toys and adding repaints to pad the line.

Out of touch with the fans? Someone hasn't been reading about the Classics line and the Titanium series which are being released by Hasbro. I wonder what are Takara's plans for those?

OK, so I'm bumping this thread to talk about options for BT and not specifrically whether they are crossing the line sexually. It looks like takara is pulling out all the stops they can to keep the line alive. They apear to have resorted to showcasing a human element above or equal to that of the TFs (lets not debate the sexual issue in this thread since there are plenty of other threads for that) and releasing only the most popular/important chracters (OP, then HotRod and now Megatron) and dropped diecast while raising the price.

I'm not to upset about them focusing on the most popular characters although I'm not sure what they'll do after megs. The prices are ludicrous even with diecast, but without, I have to admit I'm hoping they do cancel the line.

I think they're done with it. I'm not even sure they'll make the Megatron2000 - I bet it hinges on the sales success of Convoy and Roddy.

I also have the suspicion that the Alt line is pretty much over as well, with the Nemesis Prime "exclusive" being the swansong. Think about it - no one will complain about "missing" #24 if there is never a #25.

It looks like takara is pulling out all the stops they can to keep the line alive.

Quite the converse in my opinion. Let's see....

Slow production on Prowl and keep silent on Mirage, planting the seeds of doubt? Check.

Drop the die-cast metal starting with Ginrai/Convoy, thus destroying a major draw of the line? Check.

Raise the price, in spite of the above and a nearly identical competitor at 1/3 the price? Check.

Rename the line to "KISS Players" and take the fiction a hair's breadth away from magical girl anime? Check.

Throw a tanker truck full of rocket fuel on the lolicon fire with a comic starring S2000 Megatron and his tongue? Check.

I will usually side with Takara but their total 180 degree change in direction since the merger with Tomy just can't get much more frustrating. Their schitzophrenic shotgun approach to the line is as bad as Hasbro's dilution through repaints. To paraphrase Penny Arcade, "morons or saboteurs?" Unless they start doing reissues again, we just won't be doing any business for the forseeable future...

I don't think they see the US as a real market for their toys. I think thats probably a BAD decision, but I doubt it's one that we will see reversed. I think it's safe to say all the changes they have made are because 1) they don't view BT as sucessful and 2) they think these changes will improve sales.

Pasquale

I really don't care what they do to sell the things, as long as the quality doesn't drop. This crap of making all-plastic BT's just isn't going to cut it. But like you say, they probably aren't considering Alts or the import market, and who knows how the Japanese feel about it?
