The big faults with the game are,

 

1: Can't replay boss fights, and Tidal Wave was the only fight I enjoyed

 

2: Transforming is pretty non essential, except for traveling faster than running, and mowing down enemies as Optimus

 

3: Why the hell did they only get 2 of the real voice actors?  That Unicron voice was laaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaame

 

4: Levels are vast an beautiful, but very dull.  The best level hands down was Tidal Wave, and when he's dead, guess what: Only the little islands are left in that level

 

5: The Decepticon ship, impossible to play right side up again

 

6: Zero replay value.  Once you have all the minicons, that's it.  Seeing as you need them all to fight Unicron anyway, once he's dead there really is nothing left to do, bringing me back to my complaint about the one time bosses

 

7: only 3 Autobots?  And no Jetfire?  And no playing as Cons?  Even as a multiplayer?

 

8: No multiplayer, a feature that game needs really really badly

 

9: Of all the levels they could have made, they have 2 amazons, 2 polar/arctic, and 1 tropical (the mid atlantic doesnt even count as a level when Tidal Wave is gone.

 

 

Some pros tho

 

1: Looks amazing

 

2: Armada without stupid kids

 

3: Play as mutha trukkin Prime

 

4: Cool minicons/weapons system

 

5: Gliding.  Gliding over the first amazon level is absolutely stunning

 

 

The bottom line: this game could have been much much better.  Some of the extras you can unlock are level storyboards.  Look at some of them.  First off, demolishor was in it.  Next you had to fight Ramjet on Easter Island with Tidalwave docked in the water.  The amazon levels were a lot more detailed and a lot more interactive.  The crashed ship had a segment when you were chasing Demolishor through the upside down ship.  It looks like this thing was rushed into production, and rightly so, I believe it only came out during Armada's final days, which is why the full title was 'Prelude to Energon'

that was my biggest beef.

The game could've been better, but it was still pretty darn good!

 

IMHO it's the best TF game made so far -- infinitely better than that god-awful Beast Wars game for Playstation. (>_<)

 

 

Judging from the DVD I got with my TFC Starscream reissue, the graphics on the PS2 G1 Tatakae! game looks hot, but I've heard that the gameplay is crap.

true, but red alert's VA kicked arse (i know he also did spottswood in team america: world police).

prime shoulda had jetfire and overload with him in the final scene....

 

my biggest beef was not being able to watch his initial speech about 'cron again.

I agree.  This is by far the best TF game to date.  Perhaps (with Prayer) we can get a NextGen TF game for the XBOX 360 or PS3..........And get mulitplayer action, on-line play, and multiple character selection.  I would love a Slayer mode like in the Halo series............

I don't think the game could have been much better given the budget. Most of the budget was spent on animating the three main characters, so other skins or playable characters would be impossible. I also disagree about it having poor level design. Playing aboard Tidal Wave and the crashed shuttle was fun and original.

The only real fault I found was the lack of being able to change your controls.  :grr
