I usually don't run into TF collectors, it's usually the scary Hot Wheels collectors that I bump into on the way to the stuff I want to look at.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

When I see Hot Wheels collectors, they're either with nice looking girls or in groups.  And I'm usually alone, so I feel pwned, even though I'm collecting the superior toy.

I've met a couple in the aisle, but I didn't tell them about TFans, and they didn't talk about online stuff either.  STPrime comes to my town sometimes, and I may meet him sometime, if we're both free.

I actually hang out regularly with another TF fan.  We used to work in the same building, and one day he walked by and saw my desktop wallpaper (a sweet RiD Scourge shot!) and a couple of vintage TF's on my desk.  He casually asked, "So...you like transformers?" to which I responded "hell yes!".  Turns out he lived 2 doors down from me.  Weird.  We still hang out and geek out, and always look out for new stuff for each other when it hits the stores.  Never hurts to have another collector out looking for you.

I did once. It was when the last wave of energon basics (the one that was all combiner limbs) came out like a day before a 1/2 price on basics sale at the TRU in my area.

I hade reserved some the day b4, but still needed to dig through the bin for the bruticus limbs. Just after I found the last one I needed, some guy who was behind me was like "oh man, you found one. you're lucky. " I said thanks and asked what all he was looking for, then helped him root through the bin. the guy ended up gettin all that he needed (he needed all the bruticus limbs too, plus more...). It was fun.  :thumb

We briefly discussed what we collect, and distribution in the city.

All in all, a good experience.  :tfgrin  Much better than say meeting a grubby scalper..  :tfmad

Oh and I've met about a dozen people now at Transformerscon over the last 2 years, including purplr-bot (he posts here).

I've met 'Zakah a few times in the city, cool guy.

i also keep in touch with Rawhide.

not too difficult when you live in the same city.

I've never met anyone off a message board but when I was at Botcon 2004 in Pasadena I met a guy out there from Las Vegas, not sure if he posts on any of these sites but we call and talk transformers every now and then and since a friend of mine had some package deal for Vegas for a few days here in early July, I'm going along so hopefully he and I will hang out a bit then.

Actually, there used to be a guy that posted here that lived in my dorm building when I still lived on campus....he sorta went MIA though.
