Galvatron Reissue

Recommended Posts

Thinking about getting the latest Galavtron Reissue from takara.

Should I get the cartoon actual reissue or the e-hobby original galavatron?

Any thoughts or preferences?

:tfhuh

I myself have the e-hobby reissue. I just find the colours nicer. I really can't be bothered with the purple colour of the regular reissue.

Yeah, i find the anime purple. . . just too purple for me.

i have to agree with the purple issue, it's not quite the same purple as the cartoon.  though, if you're gonna be thrifty about it laftoys.com has the purple one at a good price.

I went with the purple Galvatron.  True, it's not the dark purple that it should be, but I like it all the same.  It makes no sense why they didn't do this properly in the '80s, though. He was a major new villain that was introduced in the movie, so why didn't they make him the right colors in the first place?

Because you'll notice he's only purple like that in the movie and show.  Everywhere else, he's gray.

Because the toy came first. It is the cartoon that coloured Galvatron incorrectly. As Blot said, Galvatron was only purple in the cartoon, but gray everywhere else, including the G1 comics, where Galvatron was way way cooler than his cartoon counterpart (Time Wars, anyone? ;)).

e-Hobby's Galvatron II is supposed to be based on the Marvel Comics G1 Galvatron, who was of course, always toy-accurately drawn (hence why he comes with the green evil-Matrix from Matrix Quest, which I've attached to my Thunderwing, eheheh).

It depends on your preference - if you prefer the mentally retarded cartoon Galvatron, go for the standard purple reissue, if you prefer demi-god ass-stomping comic Galvatron, then go for the e-Hobby reissue. As for me - Make Mine Marvel!

Damn it!  Why'd I have to read that while I'm broke?  Now I want to buy one, but I'm also confronted with an internal conflict.  The collector in me says go for the shiny e-hobby release, but the g1 kid in me that saw the movie says "buy the purple one you know you want to."  Thing is, they both look great.  I don't need a tent for bonnaroo, right?  I can just sleep under the stars can't I? :tfsad  :redface

Great post Goki!

Anyway, the correct answer is buy a loose vintage Galvatron in TOY accurate colours. It's about the same price as the eHobby and it will be a rad 20 year old toy, as opposed to an exclusive purposefully made with lower numbers so they can justify their own prices. Every eHobby release needs that standard disclaimer from the old Hallmark plate commercials.

"Now we can't guarentee that these toys will go up in value, but..."
