Embarrassing...

Haha... I should have sent you the instructions with him.... sorry-- that's usually the first thing I throw out with the box.

Actually though, there was a thread somewhere here about a month back that dealt with this issue... might want to dig it up if you haven't got it yet... that was where I learned how to (kind of) do it.

Here you go-- this is the one I was thinking about... (thanks, mx-01 archon)

(did you notice it wasn't *completely* tformed when you got it?  ;)

Transforming Soundwave really isn't that difficult. The scheme is actually pretty easy for the most part. Got it on my first try though fitting the legs are a bit of a pain.

Got him Thursday and only realized how the heads supposed to sit. Totally missed the hinged piece that's supposed to be lowered first time around. Man is that a welcome improvement IMO not having his head sit so high. :thumb

thanks for all the help, guys! :)

The unfortunate thing about Cybertron Soundwave (at least my copy) is that the mold doesn't quite fit together the way it should.

Either the legs don't fit snugly into the grooves in jet mode, or the shield/cockpit doesn't nail down right with the holes in the back corners over the pegs.  It's like the thing is engineered to fit together very tightly, but it doesn't quite work out that way.  Since the joints are tight, I don't really have a problem with him "un-transforming" while in jet mode, even with those problems.

Anyone else have this experience with their copy of Cybertron Soundwave?

I found it horribly easy to get him to 'bot mode.

Then annoyingly difficult to get him back to 'alt mode. Had to dig the instructions out again.

Of course a lot of that has to do with my tendecy to TF them and then not put them back again for 2 weeks after having just bought them.

yeah TFing a guy into robot mode for the first time is like ripping stuff out of a carefully packaged box - a lot easier than properly stuffing it back in...

It seems like nothing I do gets all the pegs closed tightly. I got real close and then quit. He looked good enough so

ok i have tried harrrrd to transform him wrong, i tried all the way through house of 1000 corpses, cuz the movie was bothering me, and boring me, so i could tell yall how to do it right...sounds weird but ive gotten him right everytime.... my best thing to tell you about his legs and cockpit is to make sure you have his knees one click back (not the shin thiniges), and that the double hinges on his arms lay flat with the wings, continue transformation as normal and once you get to the gap part grab him by the front and the back (after you get all his pegs close to lined up) and slightly bend him...act like your trying to fold a burger in half downwards...putting just a little force down he will line up i swear...tho he is obnoxious and will want to pop back out, now about the arms i dunno

I don't think there is any way to get everything locked together the way it should be.

The cockpit can't hold everything together the way it's supposed to. That little bit of pressure it takes to get everything in it's proper position has a natural tendency to spring back out, and that puts too much pressure on the pegs that go into the cockpit that are supposed to lock it all together. The pegs and holes weren't made well enough to hold under the strain.

That's why you can get it all together for like 2 seconds, but if you so much as look at it something pops out of place.

Now maybe if you carefully apply glue, or clear nail polish...whatever, to make the pegs fit more snug and hold better, then maybe you can overcome this problem. But I don't know if that trick works on this or not. It would seem slightly longer pegs might have worked better.
