The End Cap Closing Down

Recommended Posts

Playing devil's advocate here...

I honestly haven't taken the time to really check out Tfieds yet, but I have a few simple questions...

I had a bunch of stuff listed here in the end cap for a while, and I ran into these problems:

1.) With a number of items for sale, and the only way to track sales being through Email or PMs, I got confused on a few occasions and double-sold items.  Ebay's checkout system prevents this... does Tfieds have a similar system to help keep track of buyers and payments?

2.) I decided to sell my stuff because I wnated to liquidate it into usable funds quickly... after the initial flood of buyers, I ended up with a huge list of stuff just sitting there for quite some time, as opposed to the idea of a 7 day auction on Ebay.  I like the idea of setting a low price with no reserve, and letting the item price itself based on demand... does Tfieds work that way too, or is it solely a "set price, listed until it sells" setup?

3.) I've also found that in the endcap, you set a price and then people try to talk you down, while at Ebay, you set a price and it goes up from there.  As a seller, I think it's in my best interest to see my prices go up, not down.  Is there any way to curb "haggling" on Tfieds, or is it just a more organised form of the endcap?

If someone wouldn't mind answering these quiestions for me, then I might give Tfieds a shot.  Thanks in advance! :thumb

All good questions. I'm sure as to most of it, yet. But, I will say that the haggling thing is probably not something that can be controlled easily. It's set up where an interested buyer can contact you about your item. The price is already up there, so if they want to counter-offer, you can just decline. That kind of thing sucks over the internet anyway. If that's the way the Endcap works, it's no wonder I haven't used it before.

By the looks of things, it doesn't work the way Ebay does, as far as the time constraint goes. I believe your item would just stay up until you decide to take it down.

I'm not sure about your first question.

I have a few items that I've been thinking about selling, and was planning on using the End Cap, but Tfieds sounds like a winner to me! I'll be using BOTH when the time comes! :thumb

Thanks! Really, the questions and feedback are great. Please keep it coming. We want to know what we can do to improve Tfieds.com for you.

Answers:

1) I wish there was a way to track sales. That's complicated and eBay makes you give your bank and or credit card to do that. We dont want to get into that mess. To me that is one of the things that makes eBay a pain. But they did that to ensure the relationship. Something that comes at a price. Litterally. :D

2) Tfieds.com is just a post it and forget it till someone buys kind of thing. Ads will time out at 1, 2 or 3 months depending what you choose.

3) Correct, there is no bidding function. You can set your price to be "Best Offer" and get bids that way. But it wont be tracked.

In reality we made Tfieds.com NOT to be like eBay. I and the many we see using the End Cap just want to post seomthing for sale at a fixed price. Even worse, eBay is filled with scammers, fees and a lot other problems we have all experinced.

The goal was to simply offer something organized, easy to use and FREE for ALL kinds of collectors to sell their own toys. We're a work in progress and will keep working the kinks out as we find them. We hope people will use Tfieds.com in addition to eBay since its FREE and another avenue to sell your stuff. If not, Its all good. I still use both.  :thumb

You guys really need to edit the title of this thread - it's a sticky and VERY misleading.

You are right, but no one read the topic when it was something. Go see, its still pinned.

What "cover" do we have if we get ripped-off on TFieds?

i've a suggestion regarding this.

now, i don't know how tfieds works because i havn't used it yet (although i do keep it in mind when looking for tf related items) but you could set the site up so that when one wishes to contact the seller, an email is sent to the seller either from a tfieds email address or with a subject containing tfieds.  this way the seller can easily set up a filter in his/her email acct.  that would at least seperate those emails from the others making it easier to manage them.  you could even make it so that the subject contains the actual advert title making it even easier to sort.

insurance costs money.  doing business on tfieds is akin to making a thread here, you can give the seller/buyer a bad name/rep but there realy isn't anything that tfieds nor TFans could do aside ban them and write a nasty letter to them/their isp.

at least that what i would think

  • 1 month later...

My rating there went from 1 to 0 for some reason. I have only sold 1 item there, and it was to Xamot. Also, if you set your item to display for 1 month, it is still there after that expires. I would figure I wouldn't have any items left up there, but I still do. This isn't a big problem for me but its just weird.
