The Travels of Packing Materials

Tripredacus

Recommended Posts

One time I got a Voltron Figure and underneath all of the packing material was a mouse nest and a dried up mouse skeleton.  I e-mailed the guy and he said he never took it out fo the box when he got it, it might have been there for years.

So when I use old packaging I always empty it and make sure there are no surprises.

I have got some weird things in box's also. A bottle opener (im suprised customs didnt keep my stuff because of it) Soldering iron tip legs wst starscream head and back wings steryene(sp) and other weird junk

Re-using boxes is my policy too.

I recently had to send him a box so I re-used a box that I got PM Prime in. But it was a box that used to contain those cigarettes one has to roll oneself. This was printed on the side.

Unfortunately the Dutch word for that is "shag".  :tflaugh

I ended up taping white paper over it.  :tftongue

Ps- I read the meatbox story too. It was quite disgusting indeed.

Neither had my colleagues. (Mailed the box out during my lunchbreak.)

They thought it was funny too. One commented that he never knew "shag" meant something in English.  :tftongue

Good thing I realized it time. What if customs would have read it?  :tflaugh

If newspapers or such are used, (for packing "fluff") I will usually take the time to read them, especially if from another state far away. But if in a different language, I just look at the pictures.... :redface

yay! i'm not alone! lol  i do the same exact thing.

I typically don't read the newspapers inside, but my Mom does. I always find it weird that people put the adhesive tape from the USPS box in the box as well, that plastic thing you have to take off so that the glue is exposed to stick the box together. I always throw those things out. I mean, even Tom has done this to me! AHHH, but maybe if you wrote your name on them, then people could start a collection of those damn things!

This is a very interesting thread indeed.

I never realized other people took an interest in the boxes their stuff comes in heh.  I'm always interested in the boxes that come from Japan, China, Singapore etc.  I always try to figure out, half assed, if I was ripped off for shipping hahaha but I can't tell if it came from overseas.

One time I received a package from Japan and it was stuffed with newspaper with comics that were pornographic.  That was pretty interesting.
