Well that's the challenge for the designers then. Personally I'm not expecting him to look anything like G1 Prime except in the face b/c G1 Prime looked like a guy in a TF cosplay outfit. You know it's true.

Did he, or was it because he was just easier to animate that way?

It was because the Marvel guys wanted the TFs to look more "human" for the initial 4-issue comic run. The designs carried over for the Ark-bots (and -cons) in the show.

Again we come back to it being easier to draw.  The artists working on the comics back then were used to drawing people.

Even if what I said is wrong, you still used a logical, real world reason for why the G1 Transformers looked the way they did. Isn't that much better than slamming them by saying that they look like guys in suits?

The only time anyone will be justified in gettign upset, is if when they finally reveal character designs to be used in the movie.  If those suck, then all hope is lost for this movie.

I would think that a sucky script would be worse, personally.

Have you ever seen a real semi-truck?  Can you imagine how goofy Optimus Prime would look if they go for total realism?

Great visuals can save a movie, look at last summer's War of the Worlds movie.   I feel dumb for having seen it, but I can't deny that the special effects were amazing.

Why would they go for anything less than total realism in a live-action movie?

Again, have you ever seen a real semi-truck?

Of course I have. But I don't get your point. It's not a cartoon, and anything less than photorealism is not going to work. If they're going to be "in disguise" then they need to be convincingly so.

Compromises have to made in order to keep the Transformers from looking silly.  I think that the other characters will fare better, but there is no way that Optimus Prime will good in robot mode, as an actual semi-truck

Hey, it's part of the deal. They've got to make it work. A semi truck with two giant blue legs sticking out the back is going to be a bit of a giveaway IMO.

Which is why Im guessing he'll have a pretty big sleeper cab section, which would give them a lot more to work with. The rear frame can be worked into the arms. Just takes some imagination is all.

I doubt Movie Prime can possible look worse than Obesetimus Prime (Energon)

It wasn't a slam. But I'm really not getting your logic here. All I'm saying is that it's a live-action movie and it's not crazy wacked-out insane to assume that the alt modes for the TFs in the movie will look like real life vehicles. (Isn't that what we've always wanted??)

I'm not fussed about it, personally. I already know that they're not using the blocky G1 look, and that's just fine with me. All I want is something original and not a tired rehash of 20-year-old comic book designs.

Agrees for teh sake of LMH. :thumb

On topic. Good news all around IMO. Here's hoping the script doesn't suck as hard as rumoured.

As for WOTW. Saw it about a week ago. Vissuals were decent but absolutely nothing about this film was awe inspiring. The flaming train scene though made me roffle.

woah, where was it rumored the script sucked?

i thought the movie was pretty decent.

There was a "fake" script leaked a long time ago.  Despite Don Murphy's suggestive but vague comments, some people thought it was legit because it was pulled.

Apprently though,. upon reading it, most realised their mistake, it was so bad it couldn't be real.

Until all the human names, characterisations and roles, as well as many TF names such as police car Brawl, the recently Scorponk scene etc, were all revealed recently officially, suggesting the fake was actually an early draft.

i thought the movie was pretty decent.

That says it all imo.

Radio broadcast - Legendary

1970's album - Masterpiece

Huge budget Hollywood movie - Pretty decent... :roll
