I direct your attention to Kong. And I heard its going to be based around the Armada engine, so there's hope yet

The Kong game is said to be very dull.  I've not bothered playing it since I have no interest in the movie, the movie sounds like a special effects bore fest and the game is supposed to be terrible beyond all reason.  That game came out a while ago.

If the TF game is based on the engine used for the Armada game on the PS2, then maybe, if the gameplay is there and there's plenty to do that is to do with TF's and not humans, then maybe it will worth looking out.  Maybe though.  Usually a game can look and sound great and turn out to be so bad that it's more fun to jump into an active volcano.  I've learned over the years to never get my hopes up over any game, be it movie licence or not.  The proof, after all, is in the tasting.

I'd like to see a Transformers MMORPG, where you can design your alt mode and such. Now THAT would be awesome!

Tony.

Idiot. The Kong game is FANTASTIC. Not just a great movie game, but a great game. If you haven't pplayed it, don't bother giving your opinion on it

No point in being harsh.  Not everyone goes nuts for games based off the movies, no matter how hyped up the move is.  Why would I want to play something that is little more than nice looking graphics with basic gameplay that's been done from many other games?  There are other games out there that don't need a big Hollywood movie name to be worth playing, games like Phoenix Wright, Harvest Moon, Maikai Kingdom to name but many more.  Given the choice of a movie licence that sells from the name alone compared to a game that is ignored, but turns out to be a great game that can keep you playing, I would rather have the latter.

Just because your taste in games sounds shallow doesn't mean that everyone else's has to be the same way.  If every game had to be based off a movie, then gaming would become very dull very quickly.  It's bad enough as it is.

I think I'll stick with the games I know I'll like.  The last movie licence I played, Lord of the Rings: The Third Age, was too short, too easy and about as exciting as listening to my dad lecture on about cars whenever I visit my parents.  If a TF game based on the up coming movie does appear, I'll try it for a day and see what I think to it, but I'm not getting my hopes up.

After all the Armada game was good, but it was fairly easy and too short with no real replay value once you found all the mini cons and got 100% completion.  Maybe, big maybe, a TF game based on the movie might turn out to be good, if the elements of the TF story are used correctly and not turned into some FPS gun fest with little TF related action and just a lot of human related action.  The chances are that it could very well turn out to just be another shallow FPS game with nice graphics and no gameplay, that's a higher likelyhood than a game that is actually great with lots of different gameplay elements, lots to unlock like more TF's from either side, more weapons and so on.

Most of the time when it comes to movie licences, it usually comes down to the developers making a half baked game that sells on the name alone.

There are very few movie licences that do turn out to be great games that really do make a good addition to the movie.  The Chronicles of Riddick is said to be a good game, but a terrible movie while the Lord of the Rings movies are liked by a lot of people, but the games themselves aren't all that good.  Best to never get your hopes up too soon or you might end up being disappointed.  It's better to wait till it's release, then try it and see what you think.  Buying a game just because it looks good doesn't mean it is good, even a game that looks poor can turn out to be a wonderful game.  Like Dynasty Warriors and Romance of the Three Kingdoms, they may not look all that great, but they have more gameplay in them than a lot of these chart topping games.
