That is an odd choice... and a :tdown in my book

 

I like the look of BTA Convoy because he has a more Ginrai-ish look to me. IMO having him be Ginrai makes the figure a million times cooler and more fitting. It's silly, but there it is.

I dont understand the pessimism-

I mean i understand that Rico/Rollbar were unimpressive - and it takes  a REALLY long time for new Alts to come out - but i dont understand all the negativity about Alts/BT in general.

 

OK- so Prime is mediocre at best. Which wouldnt be a problem if it wasnt PRIME - this keeps getting said over and over.

 

But - to dismiss the whole line is kinda WTF'ish to me. And especially to point out the shape of their feet as a reason (as tongue and cheek as it is)

For those of you who purchased Rico or Rollbar (:tflaugh at madhammer specifically - who usually has - you know - sense and stuff) I think you all knew exactly what you were getting - Crap.

 

But for my part - the last 4 alt-Purchases have been fantastic:

Decept-charg (Sept?)

Prowl (nov)

Skids (Dec)

Sunstreaker (Jan)

 

From a purely design standpoint  - Prowl and Skids are wonderfuly fun.

and from a fanwank perspective - Streaker is everything we could ever want.

 

Looking to the future - we have Rumble and Mirage. Which both look great as Designs AND Fanwanks.

 

I dont see the pessimism everyone else does.

I'm still excited about Alts. Well the new molds any way. I cant wait for Mirage and Rumble. I hope Mirage has a working waist and Rumble has some type of hands.

I think it's more a loss of interest on my part. The very first Alt/BT was the best homage IMO... but I may be saying that since I had Smokescreen back in the day (and no other Diaclone Autobot cars). Still though, he was instantly recognizable G1 fanwank. Most of the rest have that "updated" look without as much of the overall "homage" look as Smokescreen did.

 

I do like Prowl a lot... but more as a fun thing to play with than something I'd like to display on my shelf (so far that honor has been reserved for my BT Wheeljack / Smokescreen GT / red Meister and custom Alt Sunstreaker).

 

Meh I dunno, I'm trying to think of who I'd even want to see as an Alt anymore... I've given up on Trailbreaker, and Ironhide/Ratchet doesn't really excite me (unless maybe if they did make Ironhide a Skids repaint).

 

But like I said before, I would really like to see that BT "Decepticharge" guy resurrected.

Being as picky as you are LMH - why would you even buy Rico to begin with?

Let me be a little more clear w/ my comments Hunter.

 

I think that Rico and Rollbar are POS that are only going to cost Hasbro $, not make $.

 

Skids is a very good mold and I am very happy w/ him.

 

Prime is still a POS even w/ the new BT colors, and yes that is mainly b/c he is Prime, but also b/c of the regression in design (however he is growing on me some).

 

Mirage is just the ultimate as far as I am concerned. Spectacular alt mold, very impressive bot mode w/ an obvious G1 homage.

 

Rumble looks really pretty good and is an ultimate fanwank.

 

All my comments from before were mainly directed at Rico and Rollbar being inferior POS which never should have been released. I am still not particularly happy w/ Prime (should have been Trailbreaker dammit!!!), but the BT colors look much better in my opinion.

 

Alts and BTs still kick all kind of ass and I am ecstatic that they are back to making BTs.

Being as picky as you are LMH - why would you even buy Rico to begin with?

That reminds me of another reason why I started to lose interest... HasTak making more and more WTF decisions with characters. A police Subaru as Red alert rather than Prowl... Prowl in an RSX body that seems made for Red alert... whatever happened to Trailbreaker... and then those half-assed repaints Ricochet and Rollbar, about which I can genuinely say were "half-assed". It just got too frustrating over time.
