IMO the Homage-Alts are a combination of toy and toon, at least to the extent that they're homages at all. And as has been said a bazillion times before, the US cartoon is the only thing that switched the names. Everything else has always been RIRFIB.

not that I relish that debate again, but you know it's coming

Ok, the question is, is the G1 cartoon the thing you base your transformers mythos on?

Personally I don't give two turds about the Marvel comic, pure crap.  Don't even get me started on their coloring, inconsistent doesn't even begin to discribe it.

The G1 toy line was re-releases of toys from other lines.  The toon came up with the characters I care about.  The toys were attemps at having representations of the Toon characters I loved.

Hastak has screwed up plenty of homages for various reasons over the past ten years,  both in their toys and in their toons, so really, for me and many others, the G1 Cartoon is the authority.  It is the source.  That is why I'm making a G1 Skyfire.  He was the character.  Jetfire was just a toy, just a macross repaint.  Thats why I want an anime accurate Bumblebee head.  Thats why I want my G1 prime to have blue eyes and tinted windows.  That is why I will never buy a G1 Ironhide (headless freak).

And apparently Hastak understands that at points.  Look at THS02 or Masterpiece Convoy.  Do they have yellow eyes?  Are their chest windows smoky clear?  No, because it is more important to reference the G1 Cartoon than the G1 Toy.  And THAT is why Rumble is Blue and Frenzy is Red.

Is that why WWI Ironhide is an homage to the toy Ironhide more than the show Ironhide...?

probably the most show accurate looking Alt ever

I thought that was Hound?

Tracks wants in on that battle.

The Don has always been amazing at bridging the gap in this type of arguement.  He takes a toon version, and adds toy bits alot of times explaining why the discrepency is there in the first place (ie. battle face shields like on bumblebee, skyfire/jetfire's deep space armor, starscream's welding visors, etc.).

And as far as the toys came first arguement goes, yes they did, but like I said before, the toys also came first in lines like Diaclone and microman.  By that logic wouldn't those versions be even more important than the Transformers release?

Like I said "what YOU base YOUR mithos on."  For ME, I remember the blue guy in the cartoon using his pounders a hell of a lot more than the red guy in the cartoon.  The red guy was usually using his blasters.  THAT is why for ME, the blue guy was called RUMBLE, referencing the pounders (even though occasionally he used the blasters) and the red guy was called FRENZY, because he was always going ape$#!+ with his blasters (even though occasionally he too used pounders).  This reason stands apart from the names printed on the labels, or the names spoken by voice actors in the cartoon.  So since as I posted before, I am going to be doing some minor repainting and alterations to my toy anyways, MY red guy is going to be called Frenzy.  Name yours whatever the hell you please.

I'll name mine "I hate the fandom."

Mine look light blue clear to me but....  I am partly colorblind, so maybe I should drop this arguement all together now :tflaugh After all, I'm sure thats why as a kid I never noticed the tape toy being blue and the toon Rumble being purple.  lol, oh well.  I'm done.

Reading all the blogs so far, I'll have to be the only dude here that absoloutely hates this mold.  ...Hate might be too strong of a word...nah it's hate!  I was really digging the X-brawn body type and thought that Has had something that made for an interesting bodytype that gave us something old and something new.  Judging from the structure of the body, they just weren't trying.

apart from the head colours i want this figure. if he gets released n the uk that will be the slight repaint i shall attempt

You know no one has mentioned it yet, but when pictures of Silverstreak first showed up, he too had a black face.  Maybe that too will change before he reaches the shelves.

WOW. The tape deck chest, the back guns, the pile drivers! FAN-WANKAGE.
