Wow...7 Seeker Jets...er, cars...

Hmmm, what can I say?  Wow...

I gotta admit, I'm one of those people that was holding out as long as I could before making a Seeker Jet character into an Alternator...but...now I feel that has changed.

I'm glad I "wowed" ya! Thanks for the kind words!

My first TF was T-cracker and the Seekers have always been some of my favorite characters.  I really like the fact that they are just a gang of thugs, pure and simple.  I often think of some (not all) car clubs and they seem to evoke the same mentality.    That was the springboard for my idea.  For some (especially a lot of the "G1 purists" [whatever those are  :tftongue ]) it is more of a stretch; the Alternators/Binaltech line however has always had its thesis of having a new line with its roots deep in TF history with the designs.  Another idea I wanted to emulate.  When I have talked to a few friends online about this idea, the upcoming MP Starscream has been thrown to me of which I responded, "yeah I can't wait for him too!."  MP SS or any of his future friends will have no bearing on this project, heck they're not even in the same scale!  I'm glad that you (and alot of the rest of you) can see my idea for what it is and accept both (and yes, I have my MP SS preordered already!  :tfevil )

I just thought having a gang of cars and amalgamating the Seekers in that wasn't a big stretch.  It's really cool to have the gang all here again (especially since my G1s are at my parents' house still).

What I really like, is that you gave all 7 of them a unique look.  Not of them are too cluttered with decals...if they are decals.  I know you use decals, but maybe some of that is painted...cause it looks really good.

Yeah, they're decals. :tfgrin That was my main design goal:  to have something wild, but not make it too busy.  Dirge and Sunstorm push it, but not over the edge I think.

I also wanted to make each of them very unique, even more so than their G1 counterparts.  The original 3 are well fleshed out, but the latter 3 seem to suffer a tad in characterization to me.  Sunstorm was developed pretty well in the DW comics, but I even wanted to push him more too.  My absolute favorite thing about the G1 mythos is the level of characterization.  This project is my reflection of that joy.

I like all of them, my favorite being Starscream.  I know you worked hard on that one, especially toward the end of this project.  I love the paint you mixed, it really has that Starscream color.  Your choice of colors for the rest of the body was spot-on too...great way to invoke the other generations of Starscreams.

"Screamer" [he and "Roadwarp" have name changes due to their road transition] was my cake toping to this project.  He has always been one of my absolute favorites and I really wanted to culminate all of my efforts into him.  The paint I mixed will never be done justice with photography or anything; it is a blue/gray/silver combination I mixed specifically for this project and the silver gives it these very tiny metal flakes like those you find in clearcoat paint (take a look at the Alt/Bt Tracks and you'll see what I'm talking about). Soon, I'll do a breakdown of his design as I photoreferenced ALL of the incarnations of Starscream.  The custom spoiler on him also reflects the special touch I placed on him. :tflaugh1

Second Favorite?  Thundercracker.  I think he invokes Generation 1 the most...and I know thats not what your trying to do...but its the stripes man...G1 on him.

As said, T-cracker was my first TF ever, so I really wanted to reflect that and his G1 nature too.  Again, my intent with all of my customs is not to recycle G1, but the roots are deep despite that.

On the rest of them, I really dig how you threw the Subaru stars into the mix on Sunstorm ad Dirge, and the Pencil Arm Cannons?  I couldn't tell they weren't store-bought...I originally assumed they were from some MASK toy you picked up, or maybe a GIJoe vehicle.

I really wanted to go the extra mile and while the individually colored engines (which can also be side mounted as you guys know) just wasn't enough.  I just started brainstorming around and the next thing I know, I'm saving all of my empty pencils from school.  And let's just say my hands are really clean too . . .  :tflaugh1

I guess the only thing I'd really change about this project is that its not enough seekers, hahahaha...I distinctively remember a green one, hahahaha...

Well, I seriously debated on doing this, and I still may, but there comes a time where a finish point has been met.  I decided that Sunstorm [for now] was the extent of them.  I really want to move on to more customs and I also don't want a shelf full of nothing but Imprezas and no other customs.  I may return to these guys, but for now I want to move on . . .  :tfevil

Oh yeah...and I bet it sucked to photograph them...not that I doubt your skills, but posing all those Subarus into a distinct pose...oh yeah...I bet that was painful!  But you did it, and I'm so glad we finally got to see the end results!

Many enjoy the art of photography; I am not one of those.  For me it's about just having a bunch of good pics to dump into Photoshop (now that I do love!).  Photographing these guys was no more of a pain than it is for me to photograph anything else, but because I don't necessarily enjoy the process itself.  Maybe if I had a 1739723 mp camera and the 10 different bank accounts to buy one with I'd like it more! :tflaugh1 I do enjoy digiphotography more with my new 5mp cameral than i did with my 1mp though I have to say.

I'm glad to see the end results and the fruits of my labor too.  Screamer really capped it off for me.  My customs make me one happy TransFan, and I guess that's really what it's all about.  Being a happy TransFan and being able to share it with friends :)

Speaking of photography, I hope to have single alt mode pics soon . . .

(:cop and I think we concluded that this was your 500th post, congrats!  Hope my response made it a bit more special for ya! :cop)

Thanks again guys, your responses (good and bad) really make customs worth it . . . . well that and having an army of Seekers on my shelf!

hmmmph!!!!!! :tfevil

as we have discussed to great detail, I hate the idea of car seekers. In most, if not all of the seeker specs, especially t-cracker, he'd rather die than become a car, and the rest would rather die than resemble an autobot. You suck dood......

:grr  :grr

BUT,

I must applaud your creativity and such for being able to make them all unique.

I'm probably so ticked at you because I don't have the time to finish the kitbashes I've thought up as it is........

anyways, you know I don't really mean it, you've got a great creative talent, and though I give you a hard time, keep 'em coming so I can gripe at you some more.  :thumb  :punch  :tard  :slap

Well, just to recheck my homework, I researhed all of the Seekers tech specs and Universe bios again.  It seems that you are overblowing Thundercracker's tech spec to apply to all seekers ("Contemptuous of anything that cannot fly.").  None of the other G1 tech specs even alude to this.  This would be the one setback if I were trying to insert my customs (and Alternators/Binaltech itself) in the G1 timeline (whichever timeline that may be since the TF mythos is comprised of a multiverse).

I've mentioned this to you (nobi is one of my off forum friends :) ) but maybe not to others:  I am also working on an Alt/Bt fanfic.  My attempt is to write a totally new story, not internally contengient on any G1 universe.  I'm just working on it piece at a time though, as with all of the rest of my projects. :tfhuh  :tftongue

I am a HUGE G1 fan myself, which is why I extensively research things (such as this project).  But, even if there are conflicts, as an artist, certain liberties are ok to take sometimes. :tfgrin

I guess with me it's more of a stretch to have a munky as a TF leader than a gang of car Seekers.

. . . and thanks for the compliments! :tflaugh

Best of wishes on your own customs!

So why can't Hasbro be anywhere near this creative or innovate with any of there Alt repaints. I'd sooner buy any one of those as an official release before I would even think to bother with Ricochet.

sigh.

Anywho amazing job on being able to flawlessly execute each of the Seekers out of one lone alt mold. What really impresses me is how you've had no problem capturing each Seekers personality despite them being cars.  :thumb

Personally I like Sunstorm the best but Starscream is a close second. :thumb

Great topic.

WOW, amazing job man! congrats!!!!
