Fan Art - Then and Now

Recommended Posts

I was at my parents' place last night and I found this old drawing of Jazz which I drew in one of my schoolbooks sixteen years ago!!

It's weird to see how my drawing style has changed since then, so here's a comparison shot I took...

If anyone else has old drawings that they would like to compare with recent ones, feel free to stick piccies on this thread. :)

i'll have to find some older pics of mine butyeah

its crazy how much people improve andchange  stuff :D

My drawing style only changed so much. My lack of ability to draw the perverbial straight line is distracted by my incoherence on shading.

yeah i look at my old stuff (thats still hanging around my DA page) and then look at the new and i can see how its changed tho strangly my 1st pics is still one of my most popular even tho IMO its rather basic

Cool thread Goki! Here's a few old deluxe insecticons from 1985. Note the use of "Magic marker" and colored pencil for highlights - hah.

I have an old Red alert and Astrotrain that I'll have to dig up too. I remember being really impressed by the Hasbro boxart airbuishing back then.

Jaf if those are from when G1 was around then you were miles ahead of me

Thanks guys. They're fun to look at for sure, heh.

The key phrase there Blitz is 'WERE miles ahead". Now I find myself looking to talented gents like you & Josh for inspiration.

Jaf, how old were you exactly in 1985? Thats gotta be something for what.........12?

i think , the old images and new ones will progess in time as i have seen as the depth you give the characters over the years becomes more and more detailed . and not onlt that but the dimesnsions of the character become a lot easier to get right more often.
