That's another thing. They never mentioned Sparkplug. I always just figured he was dead and moved on. Sad but meh.

Sparkplug got sat on by Ultra Magnus. Oops. :P

Hey, they said there was a 20-year gap...

We're talking about TF:TM here, right?? That time gap is helpful on this case. Though no info is given about the whereabouts of certain characters, it feels more natural than just throwing half a dozen new characters one day into the series and never explaining their origins. Though I may believe the idea was to have the whole bunch from the start. Remember Hauler on MTMTE, Pt. 1 ?

Remember Hauler on MTMTE, Pt. 1 ?

Yep, and so did E-Hobby

Abilities...Equipped with a variety of exploratory devices and a crane arm capable of lifting objects up to 60 tons. Also capable of launching off both hands and guiding them through the air by remote control.

Profile...Millions of years ago, Hauler was a member of the construction team for the Cybertronian metropolis of Crystal City. After losing his teammates in an attack by Megatron, he became a Cybertron. Since awakening on Earth with Commander Convoy and the others, he has taken full-time to his original purpose of securing energy resources, for which he now travels throughout the world. A highly capricious self-expressionist, he frequently changes or restores his coloration and optional equipment.

Weapons...Earth-Auger Missiles, Vibro-Force Gun

Good ol' Hauler.

I like how Hirofumi explains the colour differences with this line

" A highly capricious self-expressionist, he frequently changes or restores his coloration and optional equipment."

Indeed. It was a good move by Takara to paint Hauler in a distinctly different colour from Grapple, and Ichikawa explains it well.

It's a shame that Ichikawa doesn't write for Takara anymore. :/

Evidently in the original draft of TFTM, he was killed by Insecticons. They obvously left that part out of the movie.

i never knew that.

in a fanfic i read at tfw2005 (transformers g1 V2.0) sparkplug killed a deluxe insecticon with a rail gun and kickback went after him
