Dude...I'm gonna make one too

quick question

did you have to get rid of the black before painting the red? if yes...what did you use to get rid of it?

Actually, the "black paint" is the actual mold.  All the white parts for Prowl are either originally clear or black plastic.  (the only 'white' parts are the head and the upper arms, and it's that gross, 10% transparent off-white too).

So yeah, even though I used Krylon Fusion, I did still find it easier to spray a VERY light amount of white primer. (not too much, as you need the Krylon to grab onto the plastic)  Some sections I just let go, though I did have to redo the entire hood in both red AND white to get rid of the black part on the front.

As for the bumper, you can kick out the grill and light section pretty easily, paint, then slide it back in.  Really comes out nice. :)

Slick!!

Veery veeeeery cool!  Love what you did with his head. :thumb

Sorry for the long wait.  There had been some additional paint apps since the last pics, but I wanted to keep it all a surprise until I could get the rest of him together.

Basically, I was waiting for some stickers to make the guy look right.  Well, Reprolabels.com mentioned they were making a conversion kit for BT/Alt Prowl into Red alert.  The fact that they were to be mapped around the Prowl mold worked out perfectly for me.

So when the sheet came out, I asked if they could customize the set and make all clear backgrounds instead of red/white/black.  That way I wouldn't have to worry about the stickers and my paint apps matching. ;)

Well, the stickers came yesterday, and I've finally got him all done!

Also have some shots from the back of his legs.  I painted the panels in black to somewhat mimic the fronts of the G1 Red alert's lower legs. (sorry, no blue)

And reversed (or back to normal, at least for the lower legs)

I'm assembling some pics for a gallery in the next couple of days.  Hopefully I should have some better shots soon. :)

Too bad the real Alt Redalert got the camShaft. heh heh.
