Mass shifting explained (finally)

Recommended Posts

Retcon is lame. Always.

Just accept the fact that there were inconsistencies in the show/comic because the toys weren't to scale with each other.

Deal, and move on. This stupidity is 20 years old.

If you're going to present a mass shift theory and want it to be seen as feasible (which still doesn't mean people will take it seriously) you have to approach it scientifically.

Valandar raised some questions, I asked some that were never answered here.

Without simple questions like those answered, no explanation makes sense, and "magic" becomes as valid an explanation.

Your idea isn't half bad, but unless you can take holes people point out and explain those too, it just won't hold.

Dude, there's a difference between needing to explain what was clearly just a product of merged lines and poor animation and wanting to for the creative challenge it presents.

Sorry, I got to call bullBlot. Retcon is sometimes a needed tool to explain/correct writer stupidity....

the whole thing aobut mass shiftign is ghey though. like Goki said, it's bullBlot. it's a concept that needs ot be buried int the Transformers Vault, along with the extreme hatred towards BM and the death threats against Bob Skir.

The people who still have questions about "where do the guns go?" obviously havent read the new IDW series. They all eject out of their  legs like robocop.

i dont know...me personaly i dont have a problem with the mass shifting idea...i kind of like it actually....from what i see around here noone ele seems to like it....oh well....i think the main reason for me liking it is because it is something i grew up with..it is one of the things that i sat there and watched as a little critter..i came to terms with it then...why dont you folks:D

I was talking to the initial poster, Ultimum Prime, not you, Goki. His "heat the metals up to fusion temps" bit would also mean anyone close to a transforming TF with mass-shifting would be horribly burned if not incinerated.

How many times have we seen Soundwave jump out of someone's hand by transforming? That QUITE rules out his theory.

That's because you didn't read closely enough what I wrote. It all happens in a fraction of a second. No time to burn or anything. It's all meticulously controlled.

Absolute nonsense. Even a few picoseconds of fusion temperatures would incinerate a man's hand.

And you didn't refute my mention of said TF's resultant near-immunity to heat based attacks. If they can withstand fusion temps to transform multiple times, they can withstand even Cybertronian grade lasers and superheated plasma weapons.

What some now call "mass shifting" is the result of merged toy lines and poor animation. Period. I agree. It is time to move on.

Mass shifting must exist! if not starscream and the seekers will be the biggest transformers in the movie......tower over megatron and prime

I agree with Ultimum Prime's theory

Mass shifting does NOT have to exist! And yes. they would be pretty big. A robot transforming from a fighter jet WILL be bigger than a robot transofrming from a pickup truck. The movie won't be the same as the toy aisle at Wal-Mart.
