no love for megatron

Recommended Posts

I'm not bothered if Megs never returns as a gun again, I honestly think that someone as powerful as Megs who's alt mode was a gun was pretty bad and not what you would expect for someone who is supposedly more powerful than Prime.  Megs as a tank is more fitting, it suits his powerful character much better than turning into a tiny gun.

Tony.

I dunno. Megatron was more than just an unsubtle brute as a tank suggests.

That's not to say I think he should always be a gun, but tank just always seemed too obvious.

Archforce is better. He doesn't have a sticker that makes me want to smash him. :thumb

Archforce was my favourite toy as a kid, despite only knowwing him as "small purple super Megatron guy"

:tflaugh

And that Sureshot thing caused much confusion and resulted in me never owning that mold. :(

This is why Hasbro/Takara will always make Optimus Primes because there will always be rubes who's willing to part with the cash just to fulfill their Optimus Prime fetish.

True, but have you ever thought that many Optimus Prime toys sell because the toys are among the finest in each line?

Or because his appearance is instantly recognisable to non TF fans, regardless of which line he's in, making him the easy present choice?

That may be the case, but I really wouldn't make the claim that "the toys are among the finest in each line." (RID Optimus Prime, Armada Optimus Prime, and Energon Optimus Prime comes to mind.)

The fetishism of the name "Optimus Prime" is more the reason why Hasbro/Takara choses to use Optimus Prime over Megaton due to the fact that studies had shown in the past that there is a large segment of people (and hence the recognition) that will put down any amount of money for anything named Optimus Prime.

i wasnt nessesarilly saying that megs had to be a gun. id just preffer it. but lets look at past lines.

g1, well hes g1 and is the basis of all our comparisons, and saying hes not posable.. pff none of them were so get over it. g2 as a tank, not bad but still not posable. g2 hero megs, might be the best megs out there. bw-bm doesnt count. rid was again a beastformer and a just the next in line for a bw megs. armada's was alright, prolly would even be my fav if was more posable. energon was made to be galvatron. he ruled but wasnt a representation of megs. and cyb megs... has nothing to distiguish him as a megs. no tank/gun mode, odd colors, and one of the very few megs to not have a arm/hand cannon.

all im asking for is a fraction of the love we are given to primes, given to megs, just once. whether it be a rm, ths or mp megs, doesnt matter to me. all it boils down to is this: prime with his energy axe. they reissued megs with the energy mace, and since then every prime has had an energy axe. all i want is a megs to pose with any one of those primes having the classic battle on the dam from mtmte. thats the basis of my complaint really....

Mega SCF Megatron is fully poseable. Of course, the Mega SCFs are pretty much just glorified Action Masters. :P

I have the metal version of this toy which comes with Buzzsaw rather than Laserbeak.

i know... i just feel cheated he cant transform. and the metalic one is pricey. i just... *sigh*.... want a real megs. i got the mega scf hotrod and wasnt overly impressed also.

I honestly think it's coming.

As I said, they've definitely not given up on G1 Megs' character, and if just one line gets a G1 resemblance (THS or Redux being the best chances) I think sales will see HasTak start to give Megs the Prime treatment and you'll get what you want, again and again and again.:P

That may be the case, but I really wouldn't make the claim that "the toys are among the finest in each line." (RID Optimus Prime, Armada Optimus Prime, and Energon Optimus Prime comes to mind.)

RiD Prime is among the best in that line, with the best being Scourge/Nemesis Convoy, a G2 Prime repaint.

And Armada bendy Prime is easily one of the finest in Amrmada.

Large Armada Prime is actually a very nice figure too (I got 2 as presents).

His robot mode has a lot of prescence, and I always thought it'd make a nice basis for a Brawn figure.

Energon Prime I will give you, but I do think he's given a harder time because he doesn't fit the Prime stereotype.

You're not wrong, Prime will sell because he's Prime, but given the chance I don't think he's the only one.

Had the homages been there since day one I could easily see Megatron, Grimlock, Soundwave and Starscream (who is on his way) being in Prime's position.

In fact, more than a few people did buy the awful Grimlock whether they liked him or not just because of who they were.

Way I see it, it's only a matter of time before the others are in the same position as Prime.

I like it.  :thumb The only thing i b1tch about is not having enough money. :redface

Heres a pic of the Judge Dredd gun.......maybe the g1 Neo Megatron will look somthing like this :tfevil

I believe the whole futuristic space gun thing is the domain of Shockwave and Galvatron... Megatron is supposed to be a realistic gun, which is also this toy's "curse." :P

meh. i think the dread gun is realistic enough. its a shell weapon and is just slightly futuristic. im down with that.
